I haven't heard that proposal for Florida, but I doubt it is true, considering the health and safety laws in the US.

When I was in Germany and France I noticed that dogs were allowed in almost every place. I was told that this is because most people walk instead of drive and often have their dogs with them. I saw many dogs in restaurants and never saw any problems.

If it is true, I think it's ridiculous. While you may think dogs/pets are cleaner they also have other concerns. Bathroom habits which some have no problem with making any spot a recepticle. What about shedding animals? I sure don't like human hair in my salad, I sure as heck don't want dog hair too. Then of course you have the social behavior of animals around other animals and people. I think the whole concept would be a big mistake. Why should people have to contend with those that can't separate themselves from their pets even for a few hours at a restaurant. Pet owners are usually realistic but those that humanize pets have serious issues.

I love dogs, but I think it would be a major health code violation to allow them inside restaurants.

I'm in Arizona, and there are some cafes/bars/restaurants where you can have your dog on an outside patio. Seated on the ground, preferably.

In my state at least, anywhere food is sold (restaurants, groceries) only service animals are allowed.
I think that makes sense.

I disagree that dogs are cleaner than most humans.
Not too many humans lick their butts, LOL.

No...i do not want to deal with some animal in a restaurant.....that is disgusting. It is hard enough to enforce the laws in restaurants now to make sure it is clean and sanitary for humans to eat there without turning the place into a zoo.
If a person is handicapped and needs the dog to be at their side at all times fine...............otherwise....forget it.
Yapping dogs, dogs having accidents on the floor, drooling on tables and chairs.......no way!.....Why would anyone think this is a good idea?

How the hell are they going to manage the dog's hair not getting into your food? People have allergies, as well. And what if the dog goes to the bathroom in the restaurant? They can't control the dog's bowel movements. They'll start barking at people and everything...Ew. I really hope that doesn't happen.

At the moment the only animals allowed in restaurants are service animals -such as Leader Dogs for the blind

Cleaner than most humans? Tell me who proved this. And what exactly did they prove?

Nasty. I don't think this is nice. Pets shouldn't be allowed where people eat. My gf and her kids handfeed their dogs under the table in their house while they are eating. They think I don't see them, but I don't say anything about it.

It'll never happen in my house.

I think it's fine if some restaurants want to allow dogs. But I wouldn't necessarily eat there.

Don't know about your state - but the only dogs I know are allowed (according to the Health Department) is Guide Dogs for the Visually impaired.

as far as im aware the only animals allowed in public places are service animals
and to the person who said only dogs for blind people, HELLO?? there are other types of service animals...in fact i have a friend who she (the person) has difficulty getting up sometimes and her dog is referred to as a support dog. this lady also has epileptic seizures and that dog is there to help her through the seizure (protect her from hurting herself)
