Then I wonder how these same Christians believe in these Televangelists who claim to be "hearing Jesus or God's words in their head"! What - It's not evil because they claim it's god they're "communicating with"?

Excellent question. Yes, they do consider "psychic phenomena" to be the work of the devil, except when it's their preacher or someone the preacher certifies as speaking to God or Jesus instead. Makes no sense to me, but then I don't really expect it to.

Christians can be very hypocritical. Not all but some. I'm psychic, all the women on my mother's side of the family are psychic. It's a gift, a sixth sense, maybe God did give it to me. Who knows? My SIL won't let her step daughter read Harry Potter because she thinks that witchcraft is evil. Of course she's never READ the books. The books clearly state that love is the most powerful force that there is. She, however, speaks to God. I mean she REALLY thinks that she's in direct contact with God. Personally I think she needs medication,LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bible does not deny the existence of "spirits", nor does it deny the fact of what we today call Psychics or Mediums.

It does, however, refer to these things as "occult" and advises us to refrain from using them.

One reason is that we humans have trouble discerning just where these "messages" are coming from. They may be coming from a divine source, but then again, Satan and his minions have access to us this way as well.

Those of us who are prone to "foreknowledge" (I can speak here, for I have such propensity) must be very careful to pray for guidance and discernment before we act upon any messages from the beyond. I have received both divine and not so divine messages.

Those Televangelists you mention are prime examples of why we are to avoid what the Bible calls "the occult". In addition, they could just be the False Teachers that the Bible also warns us against. Either way, they are not right.

It is, however, our job to discern their truth, or lack thereof, with prayer and supplications to God.

God has given Spiritual gifts to each as he desired. Many use those gifts for personal gain rather than for God. All will stand before him and give account.

Scripture says that many will stand before him and say "Lord, didn't we do all this great stuff." He will reply " Depart from me - I never knew you".

In 1300. We burned Witches too in 1600. And tortured "Heritics." It was a jolly old time. I can't imagine what God must have thought about His churches back then. Nor what his churches are all about now days. Maybe this is His way of sorting us out.
