Well, I de-clair Miss Scarlet. It seems you really want to know about all these clairs. Everyone as a different example of what they hear, but the best description is a low muttering of a lot of people. When someone comes along who has something important to say, they speak up louder. A feeling of detachment comes over you and you then start hearing the muttering. You may never be aware that you have this ability because often times these people have tape recorders or scribes taking notes because they can't remember what they have done.

This is what I was told:
Imagine a voice in your head that doesn't feel like your own thoughts.
You may hear the same voice...it can be your minds voice or different voices. Sometimes you might hear vague sounds and other times full words or sentences.
Hope this is useful to you.

I think it's different for everyone. Myself, when I was a kid I heard many voices all the time at certain times of day and night. I learned to control what I heard. I learned to close in on one voice at a time or however many I wanted. It's like searching for a radio station and tuning in. I would be very lonely indeed without my dear voices.

For me it began in my twenties. My sister and I had a argument. In the heat of anger I stormed out of the house and got into my vehicle to leave. The driveway was three car lengths long from the front door. Beyond the front door and two rooms apart I sat in my car getting ready to start it I heard my sister talking to my brother who also was in the house. I sat frozen as I was hearing the two discuss what had just taken place. The best I can describe it is that it was not inside or outside and yet it was. It was if as was right in the room with them. I continued to listen to the point my sister asked if she should come out and talk to me to which my brother replied yes.seconds later the front door opened and out she came. While writing this I realized this was not the first but it was when I first realized it

You mean "what are the first symptoms of schizophrenia?"
Here they are:
"A person experiencing schizophrenia may demonstrate symptoms such as disorganized thinking, auditory hallucinations, and delusions. In severe cases, the person may be largely mute, remain motionless in bizarre postures, or exhibit purposeless agitation; these are signs of catatonia. The current classification of psychoses holds that symptoms need to have been present for at least one month in a period of at least six months of disturbed functioning."
