This sounds like an anxiety or panic attack. Propranolol would not be my personal first choice, but it is a start.

Take the propranolol and follow up with your GP

Can you ask your doctors to provide acupuncture treatment. I expect the root of your anxiety and panic attacks is the depression you are also experiencing. Have you got any exercise equipment at home? A good workout (cardio) will ease anxiety and help prevent mood swings. I used to put bach rescue remedy on my wrists and this helps a bit. Try also lying down straight and concentrate on first tensing each muscle from your toes to your head, then relaxing them, make sure your eyes are closed and take deep slow breaths to relax your mind. Try and drift away for a few moments . When you go to bed each evening, as you are trying to go to sleep keep telling yourself that you will be free of anxiety and depression and will feel happy, relaxed and well. Keep saying it over and over till you fall asleep and this may train your brain to think more positively and create good feelings for you. I have been in exactly the same position as you with severe depression. I also kept focussing on my health. I will pray for you to get through this but remember my other answer, you have to help yourself too. The more you can do for others the more you will be healed. I hope you are calming down now and getting through this. Much love to you, x

OK, for starters, take a deep breath & try to calm yourself. It sounds like from your question that you're working yourself into a frenzy. It's not worth all that! Take a few more deep breaths.
Got any tea handy, make that up & settle down with a nice cup.
Yes, take what the doctor prescribed, as it's written, not more or less.
Relax in a hot bath. Do some more deep breathing.
Don't breathe so hard that you hyper-ventelate
Use your imagination! That is, visualize your favorate peacful place. A stream, the ocean, an open field, whatever.
Smoke some pot & have a toddy, if that's acceptable for you.
Play some soft music.
Good Luck--email me I might come up with more.

Tavare, it is always a combination of everything, at any given moment. With me it was caffeine. When I cut down on that, good-bye anxiety. There is definitely a stress component to the way you are feeling. You are somewhat frightened, so if I were with you right now I would focus on providing a sense of safety for you. That would be my most important priority. Your doctor would not have prescribed Propranolol for you unless he knew it would help you calm down. You may have to be patient while it gets working on your behalf within your body. If he gave them to you, he wanted you to use them to help you. I would not be afraid of them. They will, as they say, help "to take the edge off." Also, take comfort in knowing people here on Yahoo! Answers are concerned about your well being.

You have a lot on your mind lately because you have been willing to look at yourself honestly and all the things you have not chosen to deal with, and sometimes, yes, it can gang up on us and overwhelm. The idea is to go sit down and quiet your brain. That's what I do when my brain starts serving up frantic and unpleasant feelings. I tell it that I am not going to play and to prove it I am going to go sit down and put my feet up and just rest until it gets the message and quits doing that to me. It usually take about thirty minutes and all of a sudden, I begin to feel a deeper calm come over me. If your mother is there with you, let her know how you're doing and where you are and that you will just be resting. If you have upset feelings, water always dilutes the acids and the crazies quite a lot because your body is not having to try to find water inside you. It says oh, he's drinking water. Good. Now we can relax even more. Everything works better with a glass of water. What else? Talking with us here on Yahoo! Answers will help you, also. I am talking with you in real time right now. It is 7:24 P.M. here in the UNited States, and that means it is about half past midnight where you are. Try to draw some strength from this reply and let it bring you some safety where you are, knowing someone is connecting with you in the evening and that you definitely are not alone, Thank God.
All of this would be so much harder if you were alone. Write to me any time, as I will be here all evening - up to about four a.m. where you are... Best to you, always. Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A.

pulsations throughout your body is caused mainly by anxiety and stress, try to practise controlled breathing, it works.
Breathe in through your nose to the count of 7 pushing your stomach out as you do, then breathe out through your mouth to the count of 11 pulling your stomach in, and relaxing everything as you do, its best to do this lying flat, this slows your breathing to a correct level and stops you from hyperventilating, it takes practise, but persevere and you will feel much better, good luck.

If your doctor gave you medication for anxiety, I certainly would, since that is what it is for. As long as you only take one more, it shouldn't hurt you. ( I wouldn't take more than one if it is an extra one). But if this persists I'd call your doctor tomorrow.
