I dont get how parents can do this. Im giving myself as an example. I have been dating my bf for 2 years. Im prob going to end up marrying this guy. He is a good guy, is educated, works, treats me right. My parents just don't like him-its that simple. He's not even allowed over my house. (i still live with my parents but im moving out soon, my bf and i are in mid 20's.)
Anyway, i have been threatened that if i marry him, they will disown me completely. I have known another girl that her parents completely disowned her because she married the man she loves. I don't get it-there is so many worse things in this world that can happen -someone can get sick, someone can get in an accident, ect... and its like your not talking to me because of this?? Life is too short, i dont get why some parents disown or even threaten to disown their kids, especially if they were always good kids and want to make their own decsisions. I thought parents were suppose to love their kids unconditionally....

You do not give a reason for your parents behaviour.If it is race or religion then you must not allow your parents to control your actions and you must go and live your life as you see fit. Just let your parents know that you love them and maybe one day there will be reconciliation. Good luck

i have twin 15 year old daughters. i would not disown them even if they commited murder.
