Your local pharmacy can wire the prescription anywhere in the world. It is done through computer and takes literally minutes! Take caution in the fact that the medication taken in the US may go by a diferent name in Hong Kong. As just an example, the epilepsy drug Klonopin in the US is refferred to as rivotril in the UK. Epitril in India. So, if you hear the medication is not available, do not fear, it may simply go under a different name! The two main pharmacies or chemists in Hong Kong are "Watsons" and "Mannings"

No, no prescriptions can be transfered and purchased in Hong Kong. You may actually ask your son to seek a Registered Medical Practitioner and request for a written prescription to avoid any trouble. It would be much better if your son remembers the Generic Name of the medication he is taking so that i would be a lot easier.. Saves time and Ensure's compliance..

Don't worry. It should be all right with the prescription shown to the pharmacy.

I would suggest some big Watson's stores where they would stock a more complete range of medication. Say, HK Island - Admiralty Pacific Place, Kowloon - Jordon MTR station Nathan Road. But they are expensive

The link here shows the listed pharmacies by the Government. They sell much cheaper and they are located all over HK.

Fanda Perfume Co. Ltd (don't be misled by the name; actually it starts with pharmacy business) is one of the most well established pharmacies. They have 2 shops, one in Tsim Sha Tsui , one in Central.

If you don't need a visa for Hong kong then you don't need a visa for Macau. The visa rules are almost the same, but if you want to go to Guangzhou that is in Mainland China. To enter China you need a visa. So if you want to go to Guangzhou or any other places around there you should apply for a Chinese visa.

My brother lives in Shenzen, and now goes to Hong Kong for his blood pressure meds. He took his meds from the UK with him, and was recommended a pharmacist in Hong Kong to visit. They fixed him up with a like for like med.

He has no problems.

A prescription written in the U.S. is only valid in the U.S. He can go to a Chinese doctor and get new prescriptions. You can also see if any mail order pharmacies will mail to China.
