I've noticed many people in church who aren't passionate about the things of God. My first question is why? My second question is: How do you become more enthusiastic and excited about God, church, and life in general?

I think people are that way because in their hearts they somehow feel righteous...like they ARENT filthy rags. Like they were 'good people' before they came to know Christ or they have been so holy all their life they are desensitized to the saving grace of God. You see alot more passion in African american churches, I think, because as a people they've gone through so much they are really grateful to God for everything. THey dont take the blessings of life for granted. How do you become more enthusiastic? I think thats easy...sit there and really think about what God saved you from. Think about how wretched you were and of all creation, He chose you to be with Him in glory. I think of all the things I did as a young person...stuff that should have killed me 10x over and an overwhelming feeling of thanks just consumes me.... Heaven is going to be nothing but time to praise the Lord...if you cant praise Him now...what makes you think He's going to give you a place in Glory for later...to sit stonefaced and mumble 'praise God'. (smile) I say that kind of mockingly but really...our relationship with GOd is like the tabernacle...there was gate that we enter with thanksgiving in our heart. There are the courts we enter with praise...but then we have to get past that brazen laver, where we are washed...the altar where we sacrifice our flesh and the table of shewbread and the incense...before we get to the holiest of holies. If you cant even get past the courts because you have no 'praise' in your heart...then you probably havent experienced God in a personal way.

One thing about God - He created us to be individual. We all have different personalities and emotional levels. He also created us with a free will, so some willingly do and some quite willingly don't (do or don't whatever).

The Holy Spirit has a way of getting our attention. He shows us our part and can even bring us to a level of conviction. I pray that I respond to what He wants, but I know some out there have lackluster response to the Lord's call. There are even some who, because they aren't a pastor or an evangelist, choose to sit and do nothing, figuring they have no worthy service unless they can be "one of them".

For me, I will do whatever I can put my hands to until I get direction for the "next step". I see the Kingdom as more important than my position in life and that the lost need to be reached. I have my down times and periods of frustration, but overall, I know that the advancement of God's Kingdom is greater than who or what I think I should be.

That's an excellent question!! Sometimes it takes a good pastor to inspire his "flock." Other times it takes a life-changing incident to bring excitement into a Christian's life. Pivotal moments are often the answer. We tend to become complacent in our place with Christ, which is never a good idea because we can't be good witnesses if we're in that kind of a rut. Who could look toward us as a role model if we aren't "on fire" for the Lord!

Thanks for the great question and God bless you!

In Salvation, you must remember that it is a "personal" relationship with God, in a relationship you must nourish it as much as you can. Even though God is supreme over everything, you still have to give your 100% of the relationship. When we speak of knowing God more and being more enthused about Him, it requires everything that it takes to become saved. What I mean is that you must spend time daily reading the Word of God and praying and even trusting God more. Me, I sit and I talk to God as if He is standing before me but, I allow God to speak back to me in His Word and in my heart and spirit and so the same should anyone else who desires to no more of Him.

"seek first the kingdom of heaven and all else will be added unto you".

Make Jesus the focal point of your life (not "the things of God") and you will find that the things of God are more important to you. If you make them more important to you then they will become idols and you will judge others for a seeming lack of passion.

Being a Christian has no longer something to do with the way you experience. each and every persons have sturdy days and undesirable days. in spite of our curler coaster of thoughts, in case you have located your faith in Jesus, then you somewhat are nevertheless a Christian. Prayer and Bible examining are 2 super starts off to drawing closer to God. throughout the day you are able to hear to Christian song besides. in case you haven't any longer finished so i could opt to represent which you contain your self in a ministry of your church. Fellowship and ministry are additionally substantial to drawing on the fringe of God.
