I signed a contract for a vehicle on Saturday. The dealership called me today and told me that the finance company will not finance the car because I added a warranty and tag, title, and tax, which drove the price up. These were options that the finance manager gave to me when signing the contract.

The dealership wants me to come back in and take the warranty off of it, but I would like to keep the warranty for obvious reasons (it's a used car)... I've been told that we both have 3 days to cancel the contract, so I'm not sure if today constitutes 3 days. I'd say I signed it at around 6pm Saturday and he called me today at around 4pm...

My first thought is to tell them that it's their problem and that they're going to have to drop the price of the car in order for the finance company to finance it, but I'm not sure if they're still in time to just cancel the contract....

I don't know who told you there was a three day "cooling off period". In most states there is not, but for some reason people seem to think there is.

If you want to keep the warranty, you certainly can. But if the finance company will not finance with it included in the loaned amount, your only option may be to pay for it outright. Usually the tag and title and taxes are not financed, but paid directly by the buyer along with a down payment. If you really want the car, you may have to offer a higher down payment, and pay for or drop the extended warranty.

If the dealership cannot get you financed, they can cancel really whenever they want. Car sales are contingent on them being able to get you financing.

Like above said, tell them you will just return the car without a warranty, and they will probably just lower the price anyway.

Go back in to the dealer and tell them to forget about the contract and you want your money back.

Now watch them scramble to get you to take the car. After a big debate, they will come up with the bright idea that they can just give you more for your trade-in to offset the difference or just charge you less.

Just keep saying that you want your money back and will get a car somewhere else. That should drive them crazy for a while.

DON'T CALL THEM JUST GO IN PERSON AND TELL THEM TO FORGET THE WHOLE DEAL.

THESE LOT LIZARDS WILL START RUNNING ALL OVER THE PLACE JUST TO KEEP THE DEAL ALIVE.
