I am 5' 1'' and 100 lbs., and my Body Mass Index thing says I'm normal weight for my height, and I have talked to 2 different doctors about this, they both said I'm normal and completely fine... but I don't know it keeps bothering me! Like I'm not that skinny, none of my bones stick out or anything, it is just kind of a lingering insecurity of mine... it doesn't bother me but then after a while it starts to bother me again and then it goes away and then it comes back. I feel like really bad about it, but my family for the most part says I'm fine, I eat like a pig lol, but I guess I want your point of view. Do you think I'm too thin? And if you do, do you know a good way I could gain weight? I have tried like a dozen times but it never works, and I think my metabolism may be the problem...

Thanks so much for your help! =)

If you have a small body frame you are fine. If you are athletic or have a medium or large body frame, this could be too thin.

But the fact that two doctors have said you are fine should reassure you that there is nothing to worry about.

If you really want to gain weight, you can try weight training and add some muscle mass.

If you are healthy, I would say be happy! Self body image is a complicated thing, and I don't presume to understand it... but you need to feel good about yourself for who you are. The number on some weight scale shouldn't define you.

However, if you are truly uncomfortable about your body, consult a personal trainer you can trust, and gain weight the right way. Muscles are very sexy ;)

No i don't think you are too skinny. You are 5 foot 1 and you are small. You weigh the weight you are supposed to weigh. Don't feel insecure about it because you are fine just the way you are!!!!

You're fine, don't worry about your weight. As long as you eat, and eat healthy, then your body is probably just maintaining a proper weight. So many in America are obese, people now think of it as a norm. Just keep doing what you're doing and consider yourself lucky.

you are at a healthy weight for your height. but what's more important than the total bodyweight is the body fat percentage. as long as you keep your bf% to below average levels you will never have to worry about "feeling" fat or having unwanted bulges.

the body composition is far more important than maintaining a certain weight or size of clothing

Be thankful that you're skinny, if you aren't bony you're fine. It's just the way you're built.

Be glad you're not a skinny *GUY*. That sucks, believe me.

Just make sure your nutrient and calorie intake is within range.

Remember... it's not how skinny or how fat... it's how healthy.
