Make sure and get a formal dress...like floor length.
Everyone always wears black, gold, or white. So I usually try to go different!
Make sure it's not too revealing. It is a Marine Corps Ball.
Where's your ball? I'm in Cali and ours is in Solvang, near Chumash Casino!!

If you are a Marine, you wear a meticulously prepared set of Dress Blues. (Of course, knowing Marines, that meticulously prepared set of Dress Blues will be covered in beer by the end of the night.) Somehow I always ended up with Marine Corps Ball Birthday cake on me.
If you are going as a date then you will wear something formal but comfortable. The Ball is a formal occasion but after all the ceremonies and dinner then it is time to party.

I am not attatched to the Marines but I have attended many Navy Formal functions. You need to look classy or at least original. Don't look like a teen pop-tart(gag) Leave the PROM dresses for the Highschoolers. You can still look glamorous just buy something that suits your personality not what you think everyone else wants you to wear. Last Ball I went to I went totally vintage(I love vintage) and I wore a black to the floor Marilyn type dress with a faux fur shawl. It might have been a little overbaord for some people but it was me and at least I did not look like a highschooler or a boring carbon copy. Have Fun!!!! And remember the military has enough of the SAME BORING THING> Try to make it not so Boring!!!

It has already been said what you should wear, a nice tux or if your a Marine Dress Blues.
Now even though I am a soldier I could swear the Marines celebrate their Marine Ball on Nov 10, so you might want to check your tickets again. Or I could be wrong.

Formal is proper for this event. Civilians dress to the nine's for the Marine Corps ball. Men wear tuxedo's and women wear formal gowns.
You will feel out of place if you dress down, so go for broke. Do it according to tradition, you won.t be disappointed !

The Marine Corps ball is like the Prom on steroids. it's a very formal event. so look for the most stunning evening gown you can find. ones that are classy but show some skin are the best.. no sl^tty trailer trash dresses though. :) i find the sexiest looking ones are the straight black, red, or white silk/satin dresses. low cut, in the back, down to the lower back. spagetti straps also kick @ss.

Well, I am assuming from your avatar that you are female. Therefore, you should wear your dress blues if you are a Marine, or an evening gown if you are accompanying one.
If you don't have your blues, the alpha dress uniform will work too. The blues just look better, but I know they are expensive.

One thing to keep in mind. That the US Marine Corp Uniform is the best uniform ever created. And therefore you have to have an equally amazing dress to match it.
