Light is light in no matter which lamp it shines. A rose is a rose in no matter which garden it grows. Truth is truth no matter from which tongue it may be uttered. Putting pre-conditions upon the messenger might blind us to the message. We who seek truth have many opportunities to investigate it if we open our eyes and ears and investigate impartially what's been laid before us.

That is tough. There is much pressure to believe in God, but really unsatisfactory evidence that such an extraordinary Being does or has ever existed.
One must commit, I think, one way or the other, for peace of mind.
I have committed to the reality approach, that is: I have to see some connection, some interaction, some effect, at the very least, a logical thought train, that demonstrates that a God is part of this universe.
As of now, I have not encountered any of that to a sufficient degree.

I don't believe that everything that happens is God's will. Most of the events in our lives are either caused by ourselves or caused by things beyond our control, such as losing a loved one because of a deadly disease or other calamities.
We live, we learn, we grow...and this is what God must have intended. With each passing day, we learn to appreciate the bounties of Mother Nature, the very air we breathe. We cannot blame God for own mistakes, but we can learn from them. And, what we cannot change, we must learn to accept.
I feel the way to pay homage to God is to work on oneself, with knowledge, with compassion toward others, with understanding of the human race. We are born with certain attributes, gifts, and each of us has a place in life. Some people are brilliant physicists, scientists, mathematicians. Some of us must sweep the floors and do the dishes. But each of us is a unique being. Each of us has a path to follow.
Doubt God? You bet. But we are really doubting ourselves. It's a long and arduous path through life, but just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and things will be fine. Allow a moment for doubt. Bleed a while. Then pick yourself up and get going. That's the true test of faith!

faith is something you do it is not a feeling. It is a decision to beleive. It is also a gift. you must use your gift of faith. God allows for suffering in our lives for a greater good, Jesus suffered and as he said the servant is no better than the master. Suffering strengthens us, we turn to God when we suffer and are going thru trials, we have choices then , we can become bitter and resentful, or more patient and loving. Dont look for signs from God to prove that he is real, thats not gona happen, tho it is not impossible, its just that you shouldnt ask a sign just so you can believe. We walk by faith not by sight. Just tell him, I know you are near, I know such and such a thing happened , it hurt me so much, but I know you were there, bring good out of it LOrd. Teach me to do your will, teach me to love, show me what I should do. I love you Lord. I beleive without seeing. I love you without touching you. Amen

Sometimes its tough being a Christian, I know personally what you are feeling, I have been having some serious health problems, and there the kind that willnot go away, until I reach that other side, but have read my bible, prayed, others have prayed for me and I have come to terms with my issues. Jesus was still there in my Heart, if you are really saved, then the Holy Spirit is still there, what ever your problems are though he wants you to give them to him. Jesus will take away the tears, he will give you peace in your heart and rest in your soul, Our sign is to just believe, maybe I am your sign, I am going deaf, not looking forward to it, but instead of going negative about, I am going to go positive, My Job just pretty much made me take early retirement, so I will move on, I will learn sign, I can still use this computer, now I did have to get down and say my prayers, I read my Bible almost everyday, I pray most days if not everyday, It keeps the old devil from dragging me down where he is, I am not going there, if you have not been saved, here is a simple sinners prayer, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God. Keep your spirits up, I go to Church everytime the doors are open. Its my favorite day, Romans 10:17, look it up. I ask forgiveness of my sins everyday, this keeps my heart pure before God, I need all the help I can get, Jesus is a very present help in times of trouble the bible says, we can pray anytime if we are saved. Good luck to you, send me an email if you have anything you want to discuss. May God Bless!!

I understand what you're going through and I feel that at some point in time we each go through this faze. It is only a trial of your faith. Go back to the word and read the story of Job. Right now I am going through a new trial. I try to look at it as my next testimony. My life truly has not been easy, but through it all and every situation when it's all over I see where God has brought me through my situations. I have truly stood the test of time and I thank God now for everything I've been through and going through. It has built up a strong character in me and now I stand and testify to the glory of God. Keep your faith and just believe. Pray for strength and he will hold you up. Check out my myspace page.

Yes I have felt exactly the same way. It's perfectly normal though. Just remember that God has a plan for you, but it will happen according to His timing, not yours. Also, it's not really useful to try and undersand things that seem to not make sense. Remember here, that God can bring good out of any evil. Keep persevering. It's not supposed to be easy. God bless.

You were raised to believe in God and now that you're older and thinking for yourself, you discover alot of things about yourself that makes you unique and makes your life yours.
Falling out of faith can maybe feel a bit like getting kicked out a cosy warm bed at first but then you realise there is a whole day full of adventure.
I'm guessing that where other people had strong faith and prayed and saw the wonder of god you mostly just wondered what they were talking about? Now you dont have to pretend to see god in beautiful things and you can appreciate them so much more.
Life is for living and it's great fun, dont stress if you're too intelligent to just blindly accept things, thats a good thing.
:o)

I do feel that way sometimes, just remember that everything that happens is according to God's will and that whatever happens to you, is also so. God knows best and his ways are not our ways, have faith, but also don't be afraid to question, explore agnostic perspectives and weigh them up against what you believe, a faith that is never tested is like untempered steel - much the worse for not being.
God Bless

My "just pray and it will be okay" faith has mutated into Deism because of some heartbreaking things that happened to me. I can't buy all the fancy theological footwork that gives God credit for everything good but no blame for anything bad. He's either in control of everything, or in control of nothing.
I've come to believe that he doesn't intervene in human events--he created a good world for us and gave us each life and health and intellect, and we should all use them to the fullest and respect other people as beings who were given the same gifts.
Terrible things happen because that's just the state of life on earth--not because God is trying to teach you something by hurting you and then seeing how you respond.

Don't question your faith just bacause things get rough. We weren't promised a rose garden. God doesn't play that "you do a trick and I'll believe in you" thing. Check out the lyrics of "It's All For the Best", from Godspell. It's funny and kind of covers what we feel a lot of the time.
