I would buy a beginners Cook Book and always remember to keep your recipies simple
There are some good sites for you to visit, you need to look at the ones that you can print the recipies off. Allrecipies.com and bellaonline are a good start
good luck
remember you can always fall back on the old omlette, which will work every time provided you put some butter into the pan and wait till it bubbles, then just keep drawing the liquid from the edge and then put it under a grill for the top to cook, here also is a recipe for Mac and Cheese Australian style, it's easy and good, hope you like it - this recipe got me 10 points on Answers
Mac and Cheese Australian style?

Macaroni Cheese
Anthony Telford 04/07/07
4-6 serves
Ingredients
500g elbow macaroni
Olive oil spray
80g butter
80g plain flour
1 litre milk
2 teaspoons mustard (powdered or jar)
pinch nutmeg, grated or ground
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup good parmesan cheese
1 cup good cheddar, grated
1 cup breadcrumbs and extra grated parmesan cheese to top
Method
Prepare a large ovenproof dish by spraying lightly with oil. Pre-heat oven to 180ºC.
Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the packet, cool and set aside.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour. Cook over a low to medium heat until the flour takes on a sandy colour. Remove from the heat and add all the milk in one batch. Return to a medium heat and use a whisk to stir whilst bringing back to the boil. Simmer for 2 minutes once to the boil and stir in the mustard, nutmeg and salt and pepper.
Remove from the heat and stir in the two cheeses and serve

God bless you... you'll have fun experimenting and of course there will be a lot of successes and loads of mistakes. Learning to cook involves a lots of trial and error. Get a "beginner's cookbook" from the library or buy one. Even look at simple recipes on the net. Choose ingredients which are easily available in your area, and start simply. Spaghetti Bolognaise maybe. Rissoles with mashed potato and veges done in the microwave. Scrambled eggs with tomato and bacon. Grilled cheese and tomato on toast. Good luck!!!

there are some great recipe books for beginners, so go to your bookstore or online and check some out. until you are up to doing stuff that is a bit more complicated, stick with the basics.
one of the favourites of my family is homemade pie.
cook up some mince or diced beef (or diced chicken etc).
add a clove of garlic to the mince.
dice an onion and add to the pan.
when these are cooked, make up some gravy (easy to use packet gravy is fine) and add to the pan.
in the meantime, get a pie dish, or some individual ramekins.
preheat oven to 180c (or whatever the equivelant is wherever you are).
get some puff pastry and defrost it.
put the meat mix in the dish or ramekins, and place the pastry over the top - cutting to size.
(i like to add some cheese to the top of the meat and under the pastry).
brush some milk over the top of the pastry, cut a small hole in the pastry and pop in the oven for 25-30 mins until golden brown.
if you like, you can add whatever you like the mixture. some frozen vegies like peas, corn and carrots goes well as well. it is very simple, but also very popular at my place.

They have some great cookbooks for beginners, including the basic Betty Crocker! You might also go online to Taste of Home and see what they are offering as well. Here are some easy recipes:
1. Meatloaf: 2 lbs lean ground beef, 2 packages Liptons Garlic and Herb soup mix, 2 eggs, 3/4 cup Italian Bread Crumbs, 2 T Worcestershire Sauce, 1 small can tomato sauce, 1/2 cup grated parmesan. Blend the above and form into a loaf in a baking dish. Top with 1/2 cup catsup mixed with 1 T mustard and 3 T brown sugar. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let sit for 15 minutes before cutting. Serve with baked potatos and green salad.
2. Pork chops and Mac and Cheese: 4 -6 bone in porkchops, 2 packages Kraft Mac and Cheese, 1/2 yellow onion, sliced into rings, 1/2 cup milk, 1 3oz package cream cheese. Season chops with salt and pepper and sear in a skillet with hot oil. Remove from skillet and add onion rings. Saute until translucent. Make Mac and Cheese according to package instructions and add cream cheese and milk until blended well. Place mac and cheese in baking dish. Top with chops and place a few onions on top of each chop. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve with fresh green beans or peas.
3. Easy spaghetti: 1 package Barilla thick spaghetti, 1 28 oz can tomato sauce, 1 15 oz can diced tomatos, 1/2 yellow onion, 3 T dried Italian herbs, 1 tsp sugar, 1/2 cup red wine (opt.) 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 cup olive oil, 2 lbs hot Italian Turkey sausage. Remove casings from sausage and break into pieces. Saute with onion until cooked thru. Add remaining ingrediants and simmer for 30 minutes. Add 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese and simmer for 10 minutes. Cook pasta according to directions and drain. Add to sauce or spoon sauce on top. Top with grated cheese. This is good with green salad and french bread.

Get a book on the basics of cooking. If you start at the beginning with things as simple as boiling an egg, you will build your knowledge on a good foundation. None of it is very hard - just pay attention to what you have to do, and do it right. I am not sure what country you are from, but in England Delia Smith has written just such a book.
