I have a cold & it was my first class of the semester. I figured if I missed the first class now it would have given the teacher the wrong impression and I would have missed out on key information about the class. It's not like I couldn't sit through class. Plus what if I was sick later on in the semester really bad ( I mean a cold is nothing) I would have already used my sick time (we are only allowed two classes and then our grade drops). I could tell the girl next to me was kinda aggrevated with me and she kept moving her desk. I would have sat in the back of the classroom but I had trouble finding where the room was to do so.

Should I drop this class because I showed up with a cold? Should I move my seat next time away from this classmate?

Well, were you sniffling and groaning and making a big show of the fact that you were sick? If so, I don't blame her for moving her desk. But if you were basically quiet and maybe only *looked* a bit under the weather then she was being rude and you should avoid her. Don't quit the course though.

don't drop the class, but your classmate had a right to be irritated with you....she didn't want a cold after all. Next time you go to class, make a point of taking a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you (like Purell), pull it out as soon as you sit down and very obviously wash your hands with it. That at least will show people that you aren't actually totally irresponsible about spreading your germs around. Use the sanitizer every time you cough or have to blow your nose.

You're very considerate to be this concerned about such a small thing. Its hard not to be bothered sitting by someone who is sick, but really its fine. The best thing to do is get better and then tell the girl that your sorry, and explain everything you said in your question. Even though thats best its not necessary. You can just sit somewhere else.Everyone gets sick and when people sign up to be in places where people group together they are saying they accept the fact that they may have to be around people who are sick or whatever other circumstance. You didnt ask to be sick and you obviously care. Your just over thinking it.

The cold will go away...the girl next to you can suck it up for one class period. Why would you drop a class over that? When you're healthy again, you'd regret that decision.

Keep the class and keep going to it...unless you have something more contagious...like the flu. Then you contact your professor, explain the situation and they are likely to get you the notes somehow. No biggy!

don't worry about it . people have to live and you can't stay home if you can still function. go to class like nothing happened. the girl will come to class sick if she doesn't want to miss it,and not worry about anyone else. we all have been there and people move away from us. if you can maybe take a little cough medicine before class you will feel better and no one will know you are sick.

Move your seat. Don't drop the class. Don't go to class sick because it always pisses people off when they get sick from some loser who didn't need to go to class in the first place.

DO NOT DROP THE CLASS! everyone gets colds. maybe you should try to sit ways from the other people to avoid making others sick.

I am in the habit of going to class or work unless I am truly unable to walk, or feel like I'm gonna die. So I don't think that you have done anything wrong. As for the girl who kept moving her desk, she is probably a germ-a-phob.
