I really don't know. At first I was going to say always. But say someone was in a terrorist group, and you, a police officer, kill them. Does that person's brother have a right to kill your brother in revenge? Because you might think that you were doing your duty to your country, your culture, but so did the terrorist that you killed. And if your teacher smacks you with a ruler in attempt to teach discipline, do you have a right to hit her back or sabatoge her? So I guess revenge is never justified, unless the first person to do something truly knew and felt that they were doing something wrong, because their reason may have been justified, at least in their mind, while you retalliate knowing it is wrong for no purpose other than injury

"for each action there is an equivalent and opposite reaction" That assertion defines justice as properly as its physics implications. the only actual justice is equality. Now, the "eye for an eye fixed" structures that have existed before weren't eye for and eye, they have been all closer to go for an eye fixed. i will describe the suitable {criminal reaction} criminal device (to me); yet first to it seems that answer the question, revenge is justified in case you flow no farther than the different guy or woman did; in case you flow farther, they have the incredible to get you lower back to make it equivalent. The police could exist to teach regardless of if or not a guy or woman committed a criminal offense, and catch them in the event that they did. as quickly because it incredibly is been shown that the given guy or woman did what they did, it is going to courtroom. The courtroom does not make certain guilt, guilt is predetermined by capacity of regulation-enforcement. The courtroom makes a decision regardless of if or not a guy or woman could be punished; looking at why they did what they did, identifying if the strikes have been justifiable or not. If the courtroom desperate the guy could be punished, then regardless of they did is strictly what would be performed to them. in the event that they stole some thing, they'll lose adequate products to make an equivalent cost. in the event that they strangled somebody, they are going to be strangled. in the event that they beat somebody up, they are going to be up and given the comparable injuries. in the event that they burnt somebody alive, they are going to be burned alive.

Yes, revenge is an emotion that serves the evolutionary purpose of discouraging harmful behavior exhibited by members of our society.

To quote Carrie Underwood: "Next time he'll think before he cheats."

No
Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord. He also said that I the Lord will forgive whom I will, but of you it is required to forgive all men.
Revenge is not Godly.
I met a young woman once who had been raped and poisoned. She nearly died. Later, she even delivered the baby girl that resulted from the rape. She and her family harbored no spirit of vengeance. That held no grudge, merely sought to have the guilty party leave them alone. They placed whatever justice he deserved in the hands of God. I marveled at the wonderful, sweet spirit that the young woman and her family carried about them. If there ever was a Christlike spirit, I witnessed it in that family.
Vengeance belongs to God. He will make all things right in the eternities.

No it isnt because once you get revenge they will try to get revenge and its a revolving door that escalates..The best way is to just forgive them and leave it at that what goes around comes around.

depends.

if it can be carried out where the payoff is equal to the effort.

the sad truth is, it hardly ever is, but people become so blinded to hurt someone else, that they are just hurting themselves more.
