That most muslim people are peaceful and law-abiding and can't even bear to see the crap that these few radicals are causing to the world.

The world blames Islam and not the people commiting these crimes.

I'd like your views and comments on this.

I did not group all "non-muslims" in saying that you all hate us. You know that my whole group of friends consist of hindus, christians, jews, buddhists and a number of other religions... We get along great. Religion never interferes. It's only on the large scale that I notice there is a lot of hate.

Me personally, I don't denounce christianity, judaism or any other religion because it's their right to believe whatever they want..

AND for that guy who says Islam is all about killing. You couldn't be further from the truth. Please study the Qu'ran and it's "tafseer" (explanation) before you make racist and stupid judgements.

Some of you opened my eyes, with the truth. I realised that we indeed don't take strong enough anti-terror stances. We need to do that to eliminate terrorism.

I do not believe that " the world " blames Islam in general for
the horrific crimes being committed around the world.
There is allot of mis-information and spins on Islam being put out about this religion. This is very unfortunate indeed.

What has happened here is a hijacking of a religion for political means. Radical killers who have been promised martyrdom on this earth and in heaven for what they (are lead to) believe is a holy war against the infidels who have moved into the Middle East. Bin Laden is the major culprit here along with the doctor who is right hand man and the " brains " of the radical movement that started years ago.

Hatred for other religions is nothing new. What is new is the extent evil duped persons are now willing to go to by means of twisting the teachings of the Karan for their own evil means and intentsions.
What needs to happen here is a huge outcry from the religious clerics and leaders of Islam. Much more of these good intentioned leaders coming forth an strongly condemning the terrible acts of hate and violence being perpetrated in the name of god and Islam on the world.

Young people are recruited from mosques and madrases
in large numbers. At these young ages they are very venerable to the lies and falsehood of the religious extremist and radical killers who would not stop at anything to dominate the world with their sick thinking.

There is always hope that the outcry from good, honest, belivers in Islam will overcome this evil movements intent to dominate the earth with their barbaric, warped, sick, evil thinking and ways.

Well the main reason is because terrorism is tied to the Islamic religion. I am aware that the majority of Muslims are peace-loving and law-abiding citizens and I am so thankful for that.

But most people don't want to believe that its only a minority because its easy just to blame a few people. That is like asking why do people think that all Christians are ignorant? Its for the same reason. People like the faults of a few on a majority.

The truth is as much as we speak out those who put a negative light on our beliefs is in fact affecting the perception of our religion. Our duty is simply to dispel any perceptions which are in correct one person at a time. Or one question/answer at a time.

People get hurt and instantly look for a place to blame. They need someone, something. Perhaps because they can't go directly to the individuals actually causing the tragedies, they blame Islam as a whole, because it is more accessible in their everyday lives. Throughout history there have been conflicts in the Middle East (only because of being inhabited longer than the west), so too, because Islam is so heavily practiced there, the two may go hand in hand in peoples minds. What people in general tend to forget is the horrible tragedies caused by their own races, their own religions, instead their hatred is almost like a fad. 'Who is everyone hating today?' To be the minority in our society today is a scary thing. The world is an imperfect place controlled and influenced by imperfect, often very corrupt people. Until that changes, there will always be a religion or race in the limelight, and not a favorable one at that.

Rest assured that lots believe that Islam is a peaceful religion. Well, as peace loving as most others. If you want a peace loving religion look at Buddhism. But that has no God, no rewarding heaven, and no heroic martyr culture. Maybe that's why it is peace loving.
The people that commit these crimes against humanity, are convinced that they will be rewarded by the religion. If they had no religion they may still commit the crimes but fewer would do so because of the expected reward.
This could be any religion, it just happens to be the Muslims at the moment.

First, the world blames Islam because the command to "strike off the heads of the infidels [i.e., all non-Muslims]" if they won't convert is right there in black and white in the Islamic holy book, the Quran -- along with over a hundred other such commands. The "crap" that these few "radicals" are causing is actually what Allah commands, if you believe the Quran is what Allah commanded Mohammed to write down. The "radicals" are just being "good Muslims."

Second, non-Muslim countries have yet to be shown any good reason to trust Islam. History has demonstrated -- as the history of Europe is demonstrating even now -- that a key Islamic tactic for spreading its religion is to slowly move into a country until there are so many Muslims that resistance becomes almost futile. We're seeing it in France -- those riots were not French youth, they were "disenchanted" Muslims who wanted their own way -- it's about to happen in England, and I won't be surprised if it happens in America. Just because they're being peaceful and law-abiding now doesn't mean they will when they finally outnumber non-Muslims. That is their history, in country after country.

Spreading Islam by violence has been the way ever since Mohammed invented the thing... It's a part of the Quran. To NOT strike down non-Muslims who refuse to convert is to be a disobedient Muslim that Allah frowns upon.

To turn from that path would be to claim that Allah (or Mohammed) was wrong -- which, for any devout Muslim, is an unthinkable path.

***

Rebuttal:

The following are all quotes from the Quran, where, by the book's own definition, "infidel" and "unbeliever" mean non-Muslims.

"I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads!" Surah 8:12

"Slay the idolators wherever you find them!" Surah 9:5

"O Prophet, struggle with the unbelievers and hypocrites and be thou harsh with them" Surah 9:73

"Believers [Muslims] make war on the infidels that dwell around you" Surah 9:123

Plus Surahs 2:190-193, 210, 224; 4:74-76, 89, 101; 47:4 ...

Would you like more? There's over a hundred.

You're telling me that there is a "non-violent" interpretation of these verses?

***

Islam is a religion, not a race. So these remarks are not racist by any definition. I am not opposed to Arabs; I am not even opposed to those Muslims who truly want to live in peaceful coexistence with those around them -- but I am stupefied by how they can adore Allah and yet ignore over a hundred of his "holy" commands to wipe me out. For the sake of my own life, yes, I am opposed to the Islam of the Quran.

It's a combination of two things:

1) What we're presented by the media. Media never covers "a nice Muslim man talking politely to a white woman with no violent side effects."

2) The minority, assuming that what you're saying is true (and I'll get to that), tends to commit acts of a criminal nature to the extent that it ruins it for the majority. For example, my car mechanic is in an industrial building beside a Muslim community centre. He found that he couldn't leave cars outside of the unit because they'd end up stolen.

3) I've spoken to a number of Muslims, and in every case except for one one of the first things that came up was that they were Muslim. I never asked; they just told me because they believed it to be a fundamental, scientifically proven truth. While not exhibiting extreme behavior, they did tend to exhibit extreme thinking.

It becomes really difficult to believe that the extremist mentality is not the majority viewpoint, based on that. The truth is that I really don't know which side to take on this one. I tend to lean toward your line of thinking, that the extremist is the minority, but I'm really not sure and not enough positive Muslim reinforcement of values is out there to assuage me.

In other words, it may be a minority, and I suspect it is, but the minority is so far gone that they're affecting the majority.

I know what your talking about bro. My best friend's muslim and his parents are from palestine. Most people dont even realize hes muslim, cuz hes really cool and mellow. At first my dad was like why r u hanging out with him, you know the FBI might be watching him and i dont want you to get in trouble. But i realized that, thats how everyone is - IGNORANT! he doesnt even have the heart to kill a fly. Just because some ppl do some stupid **** doesnt mean that everyone else is going to do the same.
For example just bcuz the prisons are mostly filled up w/ minorities doesnt mean that your teacher or pastor whos a minority will either kill u or rob u.

Yeah word up..

i guess theres a couple of radicalists who feel that its right to terrorise innocent people with bombs or they're bombing in the name of islam i should say, alot of these poor people have been brainwashed hence think they'll be rewarded for their sacrifice when infact they wont.. Theres no place in islam for them, Allah hates the transgressors.. Nowhere in the Quran has he mentioned to kill the innocent .. Suicide bombing isnt permitted, Allah has said do not put yourselves in destruction, isnt this doing the opposite..

Funnily some non-muslims take ayahs (verses) out of the Quran to make it seem that islam is saying kill the non-believers.. Well the quran was revealed 1400 years ago and at those times there were battles between muslims/non-muslims, those ayahs are giving guidelines on battle.. Only one will understand after getting an insight into the peaceful religion.. Do your homework.. Whos at war today? Muslims or bush?

Muhammad (peace be upon him) won peoples hearts with his behaviour, those acts arent going to win hearts they're going to instil fear and hatred.. Peace

I hope I'm wrong and you don't get answers from people full of hate. I believe that most muslim people are peaceful and law-abiding. I think it's sad that you believe "noone" shares my belief. I think that you would be surprised at how many open-minded, educated, caring, and global-thinking people in this world do not hate all muslims... just the ones that attacked our country - killing our brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers. I understand how difficult it must be for you, a muslim (I'm assuming), living in the world the way it is today. Please try not to do what so many people have done in blaming ALL muslims, by grouping all non-muslims into the same category as the ignorant and uneducated haters.

I believe there are muslims who are good people, just like there are catholics, christians, baptists, agnostics, and others who are EQUALLY as good.

The world blames Islam b/c the people committing these attrocites claim its because of the religion. Many people don't look below the surface to see that these radicals are wrongly using the religion to justify their atrocities.

Looking at Islam as a religion, it is a peaceful religion. However, that doesn't mean it can't be misused by people, which is unfortunately what has happened.

It is a theme through history that many of the worlds greatest atrocities and darkest hours were created in the name of a religion (Catholicism, Christianity, Islam, etc etc). There will always be radicals that attempt to misuse religion. The only thing we can do to counter it is raise our voices and try to be heard above them and show them for the frauds they are.
