Very ambitious, possible but I do not advise it.

Diet has to be factored in as well as if you exercise for 45 minutes a day you may nullify the caloric output by increasing your calorie intake.

I think maybe you could, or almost, because as other people said, you will gain muscle through aerobic exercise.
I've been doing aerobic exercise for 6 weeks now, 4-6 days a week,an hour at a time, am counting calories, and I have lost 10 pounds.
Diet is very important, but don't go on a diet. Make healthier choices and watch your calories.
I wouldn't really try to set a specific amount of weight by a certain date, either. Make it a lifestyle change, a want to be healthier, stronger and fit. I think that if you do it the right way, it comes off slower. If you lose 20 pounds by December, won't you still be happy to not have that 20 pounds?

Thats only 3 months away........your talking about 13 pounds a a month or 3.5 pounds per week......normal weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week..........you would have to be on a VERY VERY strict diet and work out 5 or more times a week.....you can burn yourself out this way and you won't keep the weight off in the long run because once December passes and you reached that goal, you will go back to your old ways and gain it all back....loosing weight is a life style not a quick fix.

if you do 45 min of aerobics a day you are going to see drastic improvements in your body shape and mass but to say that you will definately loose 40 pounds is tough. remember muscle weighs more then fat and some of this depends on your current body type. you will be pleased with your results even if you dont loose the entire 40 pounds.

My wife has lost 35 pounds since the beginning of this year thanks to Weight Watchers.

Find one near you with a good meeting coordinator.

You don't have to buy their food. You have an encouraging group around you to help you, encourage you and give you many tips and helps to lose weight.

It's been great!
