I think you mean hemorrhoids. For instant relief have her sit in the tub, filled with hot water, she should sit there for awhile, the hot water will sooth them, then get her some "Preparation-H" suppositories and "Preparation-H" ointment, not the creme. Have her put in a suppository in the evening especially, before bedtime and every time she has a movement, clean herself by washing and then use the ointment. Every time, she should take a sitz bath (it's called) two-three times a day if possible and, stay off her feet for a few days at least. Don't lift anything heavy and use some Metamucil, it's for roughage when you poop, it won't react for a few days. Don't let herself get constipated, it'll start all over again. She should take the Metamucil twice a day for as long as it takes.
Remember, suppositories before bedtime, sitz baths twice a day, preparation-H as many times as she has a movement and keep clean.
If by chance this is a fistula, an inside cut on the rectum but, inside then the suppositories should help. She still should see a doctor and get help, it doesn't hurt, works fast and it's an one day operation, it's over before you know it. It's better then the pain.

I understand that hemorrhoids are very painful because the veins swell from repeatedly raised pressure within them. This happens from straining from a bowel movement. Your mom's diet is very important. She should eat plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grain or bran cereals and bread. Rectal suppositores ( not a prescription ) will often help to shrink painful hemorrhoids. An ice pack applied may help relieve some pain or a warm bath may help. If your mom has suffered more than 12 hours in pain then she should see a doctor and he will help explain what she needs to do. He may suggest surgery, but ask the doctor all the things that she can do to prevent surgery first. Since she has gone so long with this problem she may have to have surgery in order to get better.

I think you can buy an ointment over the counter to help ease the pain or use tucks pads.
Have her eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to easily pass stools. Drink plenty of water as well.
Clean the area gently after every bowel movement.
Ice compress may relieve swelling or soaking in a warm bath.
