what kind of sicko would create something like that and force animals to eat their own poop?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coprophagia
among the list are:
pigs,
hippos,
elephants,
PANDAS,
guinea pigs,
RABBITS,
nicole richie,
and gorillas.
can someone explain why, if we were "created" or "intelligently designed" who the hell in thier right mind would sit back and think of something so nasty?
Yes, the pastafarian idea of "unintelligent design" might explain things, but that would require you creationists embracing the FSM as your god.
are you prepared to do that or acknowlede that creationism and ID is just more feces that you are swallowing?
or of course you could give me your own amusing answers.

actually "nature" and "evolution" explains it quite well, and how it came about is probably easily fathomed. I don't know the history of it but I would imagine it originated because an animal was starving and as the wiki quote says, the "second time around" gives the animal more nutirents than the first.

That's why we're warned about what Is clean & unclean when eating certain foods. You can eat anything you like, you'll just, meet death alot quicker. God created certain animals as scavengers (unclean). Do you eat Lobster ? It Is the ocean form of a household cockroach. Would you eat the filter from an aquarium ? That's what you're doing when you eat shellfish. NOW. You want to talk nasty. Why when God has created Man & Woman,Intelligent In design as you so stated. Why then would these Intelligent people have unnatural desires for people of the same sex. Now that's SICK. Even animals have better sense.Even In the electrical business, you have male & female parts. It just won't work by using 2 of the same whether male or female. God's thoughts & ways are higher than ours. We only see through a dimly lit window.

You might be more careful about who you call a sicko. Everything grows off the decay and byproduct of everything else. It is quite an efficient system, actually. Manure feeds plants, bugs eat it, even odd people will turn guano into something edible, and don't forget our homosexual brothers and sisters who engage in activities that can't but help consume some quanity of the nasty matter. But really, ignorant animals are one thing, human beings are quite another. The only reason a dog'll eat out the catbox is because everything smells like bad tuna. If they clean themselves with thier tongues (having no hands or lifeboy bar soap), what can you expect? But to spit in God's face and blame Him for what you find offensive is about as intelligent as a flea griping that a cat nibbled him off it's back. In both cases, the parasites don't appreciate thier host.

There are good reasons why many animals do this though some slip into this behavior for other reasons. You'll find some answers by following the links below. They'll explain it more concisely than I could; I'd just be repeating much of the information. Animals don't do this as disgusting (for us) behavior. They DO have reasons for it.
Think about it: Human beings consume various things that others think are disgusting. Western societies balk at dining on insects, an excellent source of protein. Other societies are aghast at some of OUR dining choices. Remember: In some cultures, eating with the left hand is unacceptable. Yet, in our society, lefties aren't looked down on for doing that very thing.
Left- and right-handedness is a part of nature, just as this animal behavior is a part of their nature.
I know many intelligent animals, but they ARE.animals, creatures that are following engrained behavior.

Animals eat their own feces in order to get essential B vitamins. They don't have the luxury of being able to pop a vitamin pill, like we do. And did you ever consider that a lot of things that humans consider "gross" (maggots, fungus, etc) are actually necessary for a healthy ecosystem? Drawing the conclusion that there's no God just because you find a few things in Nature icky is extremely immature and short-sighted. Grow up!

Would you prefer that all of that crap just lay around on the ground, instead of being recycled?
I think that it is good that bugs exist that do nothing but eat our crap.
There is also the idea, in Christianity at least, that creation has deviated from its original blueprint (been corrupted by the fall), so what you are seeing now is not the original design, or plan, but is a result of an originally good plan that is now in the process of decay and entropy.

Aside from Nicole Richie, it's done by animals that eat a lot of rough plant food, and don't have multiple stomachs like ruminants (cows, goats, sheep, etc). Having the food go through twice allows extraction of far more nutrients than going through only once.

I just got a tarantula, and learned that its natural predator is a five inch long wasp that stings and paralyses it, then lays an egg inside it so that its young may feed of the living flesh of the spider, eating its way out in some kind of demented "birthing right."
Id like to know who created that demonic thing as well.

Sorry, but your question does not have me
beside myself in the revelation that FSM
is my god; however, I will tell you that its
absolutely necessary to have certain animals that clean the Earth - what we call
"sea bugs" are one animal that cleans the
ocean floors - you might know it as dinner,
or "shrimp". Same thing for Pigs: God specifically tells you that eating these things will do nothing but make you sick, but people choose to eat them anyway. A pig
will eat a human body, including hair, if you throw it in the pen with them; also, they have no sweat glands, so every single bit
of bacteria they come in contact with, they also retain in their fat. Bon Apetite!!!
Listen to God, and don't eat those animals that were NOT created as food; if you ignore God and eat them anyway, then you
are the sicko, certainly NOT God. He's already told you DON'T EAT THOSE.

I believe that we were not so intelligently designed as perhaps we were "set" down a path of evolution by a creator and whatever the results are so be it. The reason I think this is............if you were immortal, would live forever, wouldn't you want a few billion years to just watch the universe play out like a movie. To watch things as they naturally came to be. I would imagine that the vast ocean of eternity would just make me insane therefore I don't think that its inconceivable to believe that an omnipotent creator would create something just for the pleasure of watching it grow...
as far as nicole richie goes, I don't think he planned on that......

It sounds nasty to us, but for many animals eating their own poop is part of digestion. They don't get all of the nutrients the first time through so they put it through again.
Creationists and evolutionists both agree that everything happens for a reason. Creationists believe that every species was created for it's environment. Evolutionists believe that every species is the result of it's environment. Either way there's a reason animals eat their own poop and it makes perfect sense to them.
