It's crazy busy. We pick you up at the airport/bus terminal, load you on a bus and drive around for a while. We tell you to keep your heads down so that you cannot see out the windows and get you disoriented. We tell you you're not allowed to bring your heads up until after we get on base and the bus comes to a stop. We keep you up all night. Before sunrise, you will have been given a fantastic hair cut, your clothes and personal belongings will be taken from you, you will be issued new clothes. You will be taken to breakfast and shown your new house. All before the sun comes up. Then, you will be taken on a nice little jog of about five miles. Then, marched to medical and dental. You will be heighted and weighed -- those found to be fat will be put on a half rations diet, those found to be too skinny, will be given double rations. Processing through medical and dental will take most of the morning -- you'll be given all of your first shots free of charge! After dental, you'll be given lunch and then you will begin your "training." It's loads of fun. Very exciting.

You arrive, the DI comes in the bus and yells at all of you to get the hell out. You stand in formation outside a platform on the receiving building. You go inside; get your haircut, then proceed to get gear issued. Then you get rushed into the bunks where you get to set up and ready yourself until you're picked up into a company. The first days at receiving wasn't too bad.

The first few days in your platoon...If they still have black friday, will be memorable to say the least.
