I'm sorry that he did that to you. That was a pretty harsh and selfish thing for him to do to you.
Look, the only thing that will help heal your wounds is time.
I'm not sure how long you were together but it will be a while before you can move on. It's really hard when you love and care for someone so much and for that person to just blow you off like that.
Unfortunately there's no miracle pill for the pain to go away but if you can keep yourself busy hanging out with your friends and yes meeting new people you'll find yourself thinking about your ex less and less.

Give it time. That is the only thing. Soon you will be ready to find sombody new.
I don't know why you broke up in the first place but if it had anything to do with, cheating, abuse, or drugs, don't ever think about giving him a second chance.

My wife is a big part of my son's life now (from a previous marriage) so I don't know what his hang up is.
That's neither here nor there.
Find yourself a nice transition guy and treat him like crap until your heart has hardened a little.

I do not think there is a quick way. It just takes time. It will get easier with each day. If you are not ready to date, do not force it.

I know it seems impossible now, but in time you'll move on. You can't force it. You just have to move on and focus on you - be introspective for a while and get stronger!
