I think that if I do an action a particular number of times, I will be saved from something awful. This question is an example. I wrote "action"...you know I forgot, but anyway, thats what I thought. If I wrote what I forgot, I thought something bad would happen. What is this? Is it dangerous?

Sounds like a touch of OCD. This is an anxiety disorder that is a part of life for millions of people. You just wouldn't know because they don't tell anyone. Take a look at Google.

I am almost finished getting a Master's degree in counseling, so I'm not quite a professional yet; however, it seems to me that you could be explaining a symtom of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). People sometimes feel the need to repeat actions (e.g. washing hands, folding towels, writing things down) in order to move onto something else. Some people have reoccuring thoughts that they cannot stop or control. Do some investigating and see if this does seem like your problem. If you are concerned it might be, make an appointment with your doctor. They can give you referals to people who are able to help you understand the disorder and teach you how to cope with it. I wish you the best of luck!

That sounds like a paranoid control response to possible Post Traumatic Stress, or something similiar. It could also be the manifestation of a bipolar disorder. Do you suffer from panic attacks? Has there recently been a large disturbance/trauma in your life?

It would probably be a wise decision to see a therapist, or at least a doctor. The doctor will be able to refer you more easily, while ruling out the possibility of any physical abnormalities causing this panicked reaction.

Hope that helped :)

It sounds like you have OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's not really dangerous but if it interferes with your daily functioning, it is a problem! A mental health provider should be able to properly diagnose you and recommend appropriate treatment.

You are describing classic OCD symptoms. Do a google search on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and you can find out lots of information on it. It is very treatable with medication and cognitive therapy.
