If it's private and confidential, chances are it involves someone else - You do not have the right to violate their privacy.
But if it only involves you, share it with anyone you like. Just remember, someday you may regret it.
Once the information is out there, you are no longer the one deciding who knows what. And since you weren't able to keep the confidence, the person you tell probably won't be able to either. They always have at least one spouse, friend, or co-worker that they will share it with.
Doesn't take long for the whole world to know something, "in confidence."

private n confidential matters like:* having an intense affair with someone after marriage should not be discussed.
*cheating on somebody with an intension to gain an unfair result over the other person.
*personal life problems or matters of others and many more coz it is somehing which frames a very bad picture about urself in the eyes of the person abt whom u r discussing!!!!!!!!!!!
so even if the person trusts u totally their beliefs would be shattered and ultimately it will be u whos gonna suffer!!!!!!!!!

In my experience anything that is not anyone else's business, are things that should not be discussed with others. Unless, those circumstances that the parties are a part of, then obviously it would be ok to discuss with each other. All I can do is worry about what is right in-front of me and whatever else is out there is not my business.

1. Your finances. Because you don't want someone messing you up so that one day you end up poor on the roadside. There are a lot of hounds out there who can do that. This includes your ATM pin, net/phone-banking codes, etc.
2. Your health. Unless you've got some disease which requires you to be under house-arrest or quarantine or something, you'd better keep your mouth shut about your health. It's no use parading the fact that you've got something like... diabetes, maybe to someone who has nothing to do with it. If the person slips the wrong drug in your drink, you're dead.
3. Your bedroom affairs. If you're single, it's no one's business how and who you sleep with. If you're committed or married, it's no one's business how you do your stuff, i.e., your sexual orientation, if you are into S & M and that kinda things.
4. Your family stuff. Unless you want to break up your family and friendships, you don't want to tell strangers about how your bro's having trouble with his wife or such things. Be quiet. Be happy.
5. Anything, really. No one has the right to know anything unnecessarily. No, not even your birthday. 'Course if you don't tell that to the license department, you might not get one, but for some stranger who you've got nothing to do with, you don't really need to tell them anything about yourself.

You should never discuss with others, no matter how close you may be, the other little people that live inside your head along with you. For if you do they will think that you are barking mad and will try to have you put into care.

Historically, the warning is never get involved in discussions of politics or religion because those who take each of them very seriously will be quick to argue or challenge a point. Unless you really enjoy the arguments, don't get involved in the subjects.

ALL such private and confidential matters about which you are not sure as to whether they should be discussed with others or not, should not be discussed.
Because you are not sure !

I always avoid bringing up politics and religion. Those seem to be sensitive topics and you never know how the other person feels or what they believe. Before I learned this, I got into a huge fight with a friend that nearly ruined our friendship.
It's also not a good idea to bring up the other person's personal family problems.
