You see. The REAL Aethists are really cool guys who dont take a beef with people who are spiritual. They gnerally accept that we may have had something equivicol to a spiritual contact, however they have not. They are perfectly happy to justlet everyone else be. If they are wrong, who cares. If they are right.... again who cares?
and they would also be open to that as a scientific study. When we get to mars we should definitelly explore every bit of it. Examine its core, etc. We may find that all the "Martians" are under the surface in a large under cavern. It is very important to go and study mars so we can either prove or disprove different theories.
THAT is what science is about. Proving or disproving theories. Not just "religeon" but itself. Science is about questioning everything. including results that have been repeated hundreds of times. It is about QUESTIONING evolution, and global warming. Neither has been solidly proven beyond reasonable doubt. The only way you can prove it is by questioning it. If you disprove it,... then that is the new evidence. It isnt about holding on to theories to justify not liking people and feeling smarter then other people.

If Darwin hadn't made his discoveries, anybody else might have. He wasn't the primary one to feel up the concept, simply the primary one to relatively research it, and positioned out a good researched clinical thought. After all, the phrase evolution existed earlier than the clinical thought of evolution. The definition of evolution is sluggish difference through the years. Darwin simply opt for it because the identify for his clinical thought. The cosmetic of technological know-how is no person character is accountable for the whole thing we all know approximately a given field. One character comes up with a speculation, stories it and involves a end after which different scientists come alongside and retest matters or expands upon the speculation. So your hypothetical fails. Science does not paintings the equal manner as faith. Edit: I can not say if we had no clue approximately evolution, what I might feel. I recognize we don't have made all of the advances in clinical technological know-how and such that is for certain. We might haven't any concept as to why medicinal drugs that labored ago, now not paintings now. So I do not feel the arena might be a bigger situation, if that is what your implying.

by assuming that not personally seeing something makes it non existant, i guess it is logical to say that only my country exixts in this world. Since i have never travelled to other countries and therefore they dont exist. Meaning that there is a humongeous bunch of crap in the travel section of my local library
mars: unless you can prove that mars is a hollow shell with a few meter thick crust, ya you can safely say it doesn't exist, but it does and people have proven it without a doubt
I read somewhere that scientists were able to give people religious visions, feelings of inner peace and tranquillity commonly associated with a hallelujah moment by triggering certain parts of the human brain, which they identified by scanning the brains of deeply mediating monks and nuns. so it would be highly probable that those spiritual beings you see are just fantasies or hallucinations triggered by a human mind which has been conditioned to believe such things exist

I actually have had these experiences, they are one of the reasons why I am now an atheist.
You are wrong about these experiences being proof though. The problem with religious experiences is that they contradict one another all the time. A Christian will claim that they had a religious experience where they hear that Jesus is the truth and the only way to salvation. A Muslim will have a similar religious experience, but he will hear that Allah is God and that he has a duty to spread the law of Allah across the earth.
A Hindu, might see Vishnu, a pagan might experience Brighid, the problem is that all of these 'experiences' contradict one another and traditionally confirm a belief that pre-exists in that person's upbringing. That is why religion has been geographical for thousands of years.
My kids have experiences with Santa every year. The younger ones completely believe that they are real. Religious experiences are similar, events that occur during times of great stress or great joy, that are then used to convince ourselves that God is real and cares about us individually.
Its not proof. I can see mars, we have data about it composition from thousands and thousands of studies done by brilliant minds. Religion is typically changed and started by uneducated people, look at all the prophets in the major religions, they all have poor, non educated starts, and rose from the ashes of poverty to become pillars for God, or in some cases Gods themselves.
There is a reason for this, its called myth.

Well, I have a pretty good telescope and I have seen mars as about the size of a dime held out at arms length, and a planetary globe is a solid object with a center. So I have personally sensed the globe of Mars myself and all globes have a center. Or are you going to violate every axiom of solid geometry and say they don't.

I don't know that the center of Mars does exist. More importantly, it doesn't matter in the point you are trying to make. Maybe you should try another analogy. I'm not an atheist, btw, and even I find your premise lacking.

If Mars didn't have a center it's gravity would cause it to collapse, it would also alter its mass and change its orbit around the sun.
Also you are confusing fact and truth. One kilo of lead always is alway one kilo of lead, but if I hand it to you and you tell me it is "light", I can then hand it to someone else and they could tell me it is "heavy". The weight is the same (fact), the interpretation is different (truth).
Actually the recurring nature of "spiritual experiences" makes them easier to study. Through careful study, application of cause and effect, and a understanding of how our brain interprets information, spiritual experiences can be explained as bio-chemical reactions to extraordinary stimulus.
Or, as a all powerful, extra planar boogey man.
Whichever you wanna believe.

We know Mars exists, we've all seen the pictures. We have measured its gravitational effects on our own planet. We know the earth has a center, therefore it is logically safe to assume that Mars has a center.
We have no such physical evidence for the existence of any gods, your's or anybody elses.

Is this how your Logic works?
just so you know...your logic is quite deniable and would be torn apart in a debate.....frickin TORN apart.
anyways. Science is the reason we know mars exist, and science also tells us Religion is most likely (like a 99% chance) all bull shiiz. You know those people raising their arms in church like they are having a "blessed moment" or something? EVEN THAT IS BULL SHIZZ MAN! DUH!
Do not talk to "Atheists" about not seeming logical...that is blatantly wrong and your example is completely out of context with the real world. *Hey, real...thats a nice word, I like to know whats real! dont u?*

And yet this force that they connect with chooses not to give any verifiable evidence to suggest it exists outside their heads...
And I say lack of ANY proof or evidence is more than enough reason to dismiss something. Mars at least we can observe and speculate on.
Besides, I get the same sensation through meditation, but I don't insist that I'm talking to God(s).
