Then there is no faith (you know he exists due to the light going on or off), I don't believe in a God who switches on light or whatever, I believe in a God that started life, that exists in the cells of a leaf, on a branch on a tree, in a cell in our bodies, a God beyond image or substance.
Just my take ;)

Of course that kind of proof never happens. It says so in the Bible. Something about a wicked generation looking for signs and wonders. God isn't just some guy that does simple parlor tricks! People who expect that, or who can't believe, have usually been mis-informed about who and what God is.
There have been plenty of times when something just like that would've been really helpful for me, but that's not how it works. Instead of God taking the action to prove himself to us, he requires us to discover him. Bizarre, huh? It goes against human nature. Which is precisely why so few have done it.

I'm having trouble with your post.
On the one hand, I am an agnostic and don't really care if God exists -- let alone if he wants me to believe in him.
But on the other hand, I have been trained as a logician and hate seeing sloppy uses of logic like yours.
I assume you have gone to school. Do your teachers want you to get an A? Of course they do. It is the easiest thing in the world to write A. In fact -- it is easier than giving you what they did -- because they wouldn't have to spend that time grading your work.
No -- instead they give you what you deserve. Were I a believer, I would tell you that God does want you to believe in him -- but that in order for him to do anything for you -- you have to earn it.
Stop making foolish arguments & search for truth.

The keyword is "believe." You want him to show you, but he wants you to believe, have faith. No one says you have to know. It's your choice to believe. You'll know in the end. It doesn't seem fair, but I think everyone who has lived long enough knows that life isn't fair. Your also told that living a life as a believer isn't easy. God doesn't want it to be easy though. You have to be worthy of heaven. Something that magnificent isn't just given to whoever wants it. You have to live like theres no other way for you. The first step is believing.

I think "God" could care less. If he's real, he probably wants you to believe in him with your own free will. Sometimes I ask myself the same questions though. It kind of goes along the lines of "If God is real, why is there so much hate and disease?" I like to believe it's because he isn't real. Cause if there is this infinite being of goodness in the sky, he's an asshole for letting the world turn into what it has.

He's not a genie in a bottle that will just give you proof of His existence. It's called faith, and the point is believing without proof. You're not gonna get a magic light trick. If you believe, fine, if you don't fine, but giving Him ultimatums is a total waste of time.

1 Corinthians 1:22
Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
Luke 11:16
Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.
why must He give you a sign? you can either believe in Him or keep believing how you do. He doesn't have to prove anything to you, but i guarantee when you get a taste of His mercy, you'll believe then.

If God has chosen you for salvation, He will give you the faith to believe. If not, He will leave you alone. He does not do parlor tricks to amuse you nor feel the need to prove His existence to you. Jesus did many miracles, in open, yet many still did not believe, they couldn't, they had not been given the faith to believe.

"And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing." (Luke 23:8,9)
If you think God is your clown or juggler, you are terribly wrong.

You are making demands on the God of the Universe to jump to your little whims????? You cannot tempt God. No one can. No one is important enough to make God go against His nature and jump when we speak.
