Don't forget, he conned you too. But I like to think give Satan less credit. With Adam, he could have 1. killed the snake, 2. waited to see what happened to Eve once she ate the fruit 3. Called God to see what he thought. 4. Eat the apple like he did. To say that the Devil chose Eve because she was more vulnerable is to overstate the truth. According to the text, Eve turned and gave some to Adam meaning he was there doing and saying nothing. It wasn't as if there weren't hundreds or even thousands of plants he could have eaten that he couldn't spend a lifetime eating so he didn't have to disobey. Likewise, think what would have happened if he ate from the tree of life first. Instead of given the Devil too much credit, let's look at it another way. Think of a Father / child relationship. The child thinks the father is a slave driver because while learning to walk, the father will dust off the child who just and get him up and have the child start walking again. From the child's point of view, the father is a slave driver and insensitive to the pain he is experiencing on his back side. But from the Father's position, falling is part of learning to walk rather than the destination. By getting the child back up and encouraging to try again that the world that comes with walking is opened up. The Father recognizes the short term pain is more than worth the long term gain. So you have two ways of thinking and both seem right. Satan will encourage us to think only like a child. Thinking like a child is not a sin as all child think like children. However, there is a better way....it is the Father's way. God will encourage us to leave the childish thoughts behind and follow Him. Following Him is another name for obedience and sin is another name for disobedience. Lesson to be learn is to grow up in your faith and become a mature believer instead of being just a babe in Christ. Hope this helps.

They hadn't discovered bathing yet.
EDIT:
@SGinger:
No, figs grow on trees. My parents have two in their back yard.
That does bring to mind the fact that figs are pretty sticky on the inside. Perhaps fig jam was the culprit?

Adam had to have a really small pee pee if a fig leaf could cover it up.
