hey there....i am a pakistani.....and paya is one the most famous dishes here....it is not eaten in india so much as much as it is eaten in pakistan.......paya are own as " lamb or goat or cow trotters"......you didnt ask for its recipe...hope you have it.....tc

Its called "Paya" !!!
There is no English word for it since it's not an English dish. Most traditional dishes in any language are referred to by their original name the world over. Paya is one such example. As are Hakka noodles, jambalaya, biryani, etc.

I think you are thinking of "gelatin" though it is not made from goat's foot here. Gelatin needs to be refrigerated in order to gel. If that is not what you are used to working with, then you might want to hunt up some "agar" (sometimes called agar-agar). That is available in both sheet and stick form, The best place to find it is in a natural foods store.

What do you mean Indians, red Indians or east Indians?
I am a east Indian and there is nothing like paya, food made from foot of goat...where do you pick up such information from?

its still know as paya

or the paya soup.. you can look up ne english cuisine books ..
i have even heard people say that on american tv

Pig's feet is a common item in the supermarkets, but it is from pig.

Local small butchers cater to unusual items, so you need to find such place and they can order it for you.

Some supermarkets do have speciality butcher shop and you can get them there too.

Just start with the market near you. Farmer's markets in some places do have animal (meat ) products so try that.

paya means the leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its used only in case of a goat legs' soup, its called the "paya soup"!!!!!!!!!
it is said that the paya soup is a healhty soup for patients suffering from asthama!!!!!!!!!!
