It is on Rosh ha Shana or eve or the next morning?

On both mornings of Rosh hashana. This year it comes out on Thursday morning and Friday morning. Shana Tova!

It is customary to sound the shofar the whole month of Elul (the month before Rosh Hashana) after morning prayers (not on Shabbat). On Rosh Hashana the first time it is sounded is in the morning.

It's Thursday and Friday Mornings. You might want to get "The Jewish Book of Why." by Alfred J. Kolatch. The questions are answered very clearly and concisely and I find it to be very useful. I prefer Book I for the basic questions.
