Please list five REAL things that a dog and a baby have in common? Not it's cute, it eats, sleeps, it loves me, wears clothes and plays with toys stuff. I mean five real characteristics. Example: both are mamals etc. I'm just trying to figure out why people treat a dog like a human child. Thank you.

For those who use pets like a status symbol you will never know the difference. Those of us who treat our pets like babies know that they are as smart as we are if not more so. You can teach a pup the same as you can a child. Although we know the difference we treat them the same. And with most dogs you will get the same result. A dog is like a child in that they will act the way they are allowed to. If you are a good owner you can stop most behaviors before the dog can make a habit of it. Just like a child. They must be taught. they must be loved.

I'm really not sure why, but from experience with children and dogs. They are both lovable, you teach them to be the way they turn out when there older. Your teachings is what makes them the same. If you mistreat a dog or a person you may just get bit.

1) Neither one knows what you want magically, you have to teach them and show them what you want and expect.
2) Discipline and rules are required to keep both from being unruly and out of control.
3) You must potty train both of them otherwise you will be cleaning up after them constantly.
4) They both require supervision and attention because you must remember to put food down, put water down and watch them at all times so they don't get into things they don't have any business being in.
5) You develop a bond with them because once you invest all of that emotion, love and work into another being canine or human, it becomes part of you. My dog is definitely my baby and I defy any "natural" mother to tell me she loves her kid more than I love my girl.

Sorry, Dogs are NOT nor ever be like having children.. .I LOVE when people say oh this is my baby and produce pictures of animals... !!!! GAG ! Dogs are dogs and children are children... You can't leave a baby in a backyard and go to work or leave a baby in a cage all day and go out for the night.. People who get animals to "ready" themselves for a child are mistaken... It's annoying...

It's because they love you unconditionally! They have feelings just like we do and they communicate them to us! How could you not love them like a person? Their sole is just like ours only better! You will not be able to understand until you have your own dog, then you will know!!!
