I do but I have an unfair advantage.
I know God.
I know that God is within us all.
I know that judgment on each of us is declared by our own judgment of others not by God.
I cry in prayer for my enemies. They define themselves, I call no one enemy.
There is nothing you can do to make me love you less.

When did the Christian God teach Christians anything? What is a Christian God? Is it separate or different from the God of other faiths and people's? I think many Christians do try but most fall way short of their ideals in this regard.

Either you know that there is only ONE God or you think that there are many gods, one for each belief or culture. The former is the difficult highway to infinite happiness and unity, the latter is the easy slippery sewer that leads to suffering and separation.
One thing is that too many people of various faiths are eager to display their good works publically, effectively negating the impact of these acts in an orgy of self-congratulation and pride.
Jesus suggested that people should do their good works in secret, so that only God would know.

Hello Rove,
You have a beautiful face. Why not smile?? I had a very difficult time with ever forgiving from the "Bottom of my Heart". I always had a few people that I disliked from earlier in my life. I am so glad that our FATHER helped me to do away with that nasty feeling. HE is an AWESOME GOD! The Christians that we attend services with are very good about " "Love their enemies & and praying for those who persecute them". Have a wonderful day and a glorious week!
Thanks,
Eds

PS... I really do want to see a smile on that face for your next avatar!

You teach in word, but do you teach in deed? Do you truly LOVE your enemy? Do you wish them the same happiness you would wish for your child, or your sibling? Then how can you deny a man the right to marry the man that he loves with his whole heart and soul? How can you force upon a woman an unwanted child which will cause her financial difficulty as well as cause no small amount of harm to the child whose abortion would have simply returned the spirit to the peace and love that awaits it in the afterlife that you believe in? Jesus taught us not to judge, but if you have someone you consider your enemy, have you not judged them? Have you not made yourself play the role of the Father, the only one fit to judge, whose judgement is far more perfect than yours? Do you support war? The killing of hundreds and thousands for the benefit of politicians? Do you really teach your child to love, or do you tell them to love, and the show them that hate is okay, as long as you hate the "right" people?

Honestly, I'm having trouble loving someone who has declared himself my enemy - my adopted son!

I KNOW what God expects of me, but the pain he causes is so great that sometimes my feelings leak out like acid.

My wife is even trying to help me to forgive him from the bottom of my heart, because that is my goal. But I'm not there yet.

I'm trusting God to perfect this in my life, but right now, I can't honestly say I have that down.

Not many people have ever really been put to the test. They may have some whom they don't get along with, but very few have actual enemies. Pray that you aren't faced with someone who has declared himself an actual enemy. It is NOT pleasant!

Thank you for asking, and thank you for allowing me to be honest with my answer.

Not many people follow their religious beliefs these days--outside of those nuts who have no life of their own *except* religion.

They claim to know God, claim to follow Christ, and yadda, yadda, yadda, but we all know that none of us ever do what we say.

I told another poster that religion is fake. Here we are--looking at what? 2008?--and the Bible said that the end of world would happen around the new millennium.

It came and went. NOTHING HAPPENED.

I look at everything that this world has had to endure, and then it struck me: If God actually EXISTED, he would've stopped all of this crap from going on.

He would've hit Bush with a lightning bolt for fighting an illegal war in his name.

He would've stopped Katrina, he would've stopped the tsunami from wiping out most of Indonesia, he would've stopped the ethnic clensing going on in Kosovo and Iraq.

But...?

NOTHING.

Then I discovered the truth about religion: It's all been cleverly designed to give people their own brand of faith in something that doesn't really exist.

And the funny thing is, is that MAN (not God) created our religions. Created God and Christ for his own purposes.

Because if there was one God and one Christ, we would have only ONE religion built around these two. Not 100s of these religions with differentiating aspects on faith, god, heaven, and hell.

As a result, we've been leading a fake existence.

Doesn't it strike you as a little ODD that the Bible says that we have to be perfect and lead a perfect life in order to get into heaven--while those who don't--go straight to hell?

And yet, none of us ever LEAD that perfect life? It's because we *can't*!

We're humans. Not MACHINES!

So why do we owe god a life of servitude in this aspect anyway? Why shouldn't we be able to live our own lives how we see fit?

And what god decides on who goes into heaven and who goes into hell anyway? That doesn't sound any at all LOVING! To me, that sounds like someone who has a personal VENDETTA against his own creations.

Now, why would a higher being be like that?

IF God existed, he would embrace ALL of us for who we are--and accept our failings no matter what--even if we don't go to Church every day, say a thousand Hail Marys every day, or kiss up to some priest every day.

That's what a higher being is all about. All this garbage written BY man, for MAN--is just a lot of cleverly designed confusion.

That's one of the reasons why I dropped out of my faith. I didn't need this kind of chaos. I needed to find my own path.

My own spirituality. Not something which chained me to something that I could not understand--let alone honor with a clear conscience.

My two cents.

It's actually says that we're supposed to "pray for those who PERSECUTE" us. You were close enough though. Anyway, in reference to your question, not ALL Christians follow God's teachings and I think that's because there are many people who claim to be Christians, but don't live the way Christ intends for them to. And you can't group all Christians together either. Not all Christians act the same way. I do my very best to live a life that's pleasing to God, but I do have my off days. Some days I'll TOTALLY pray for those who mistreat me, but there are other days that I'll want to beat the crap out of them. lol. I don't of course, but that's what I'm thinking and thinking it is enough for me to know that I'm not praying for them like God says I'm supposed to. It's hard to get into that mind set, so I think the best thing to do is pray that God helps us to ingrain that principle into our heads.

Okay, in context now.

When our enemies put down the guns that they are shooting at us, and unstrap the bombs they mean to deliver, and ask us to help them, then we will show an out pouring of love that you cannot imagine. We will love our enemies, as soon as they stop indoctrinating young children into the hatred of Israel, Great Britain, and the United States. To us, it looks like they are readying themselves for a Blitzkrieg. I might be mistaken, but probably NOT!

True Christians do follow all commandments. Yes, we all have fallen short of the glory, but repent, ask for forgiveness, and make it right with whom we trespassed against, if any. Then you have those that like to label themselves as Christians, that have slaughtered in the name of God, which is prohibited in the ten commandments. But, like all religions, there are the zealots that get the recognition more than the religion itself. My best to you, friend.

Christian follow their God, the God of Moses, the Serpent, as they hold on and believe in the false 10 Commandments of their God, and the 613 laws.

I Follow my God, God the Father who art in heaven, and the Words (bread) He gave to His Son to give to me, the 75 Commandments of His Good News, the Gospel of Jesus the Christ as given to Him by His Father, the One True God, and He lives in heaven.

I have but one enemy and I will die before I serve him (Satan),
by breaking the least Commandment of my God the Father.

I am a disciple of Jesus and I hear and obey only His Words, the Words of my God the Father who art in heaven.

See you in heaven, the "Promised Land"

I certainly try. I cannot speak for the other Christians, but I know that I try in my personal life to pray for those who persecute me... and whether it changes THEIR lives or not, it changes MINE. I do not harbor ill will towards others because I give it all to God. Agape!
