You can't stop him. You shouldn't try to change someone or manipulate someone either - that's not your job. He has his life, you have yours. If these two lives don't connect in the most important facets (beliefs, work, future goals, etc...) - maybe you need to re-examine your relationship. Either support him as he supports you or move on. It's really this simple. How can you build a life with someone when you can't agree on this?
Why does Iraq hate us? I don't think all Iraqis do. Some of the Muslim extremists do because we are a Judeo/Christian nation (at it's core - the US was founded on Judeo/Christian values and laws). They will never get over that. They are taught to hate and that's something you can't cure.

Because the US wants their oil. Because the US is trying to impose a system which is contrary to their system (which is anarchy, basically, or rather based on the tribal system, e.g.: if you're not in my tribe F...Y..). So being there is a waste of time money energy and manpower. But as soon as the US leaves, the intertribal conflicts will only increase. That region is nothing but a powder keg.

Why do you think Iraq hates us? There are insurgents who hate everyone, but they are not a nation or a majority.
Re the army, it is your boyfriends decision. Voice how you feel, but do your best to voice facts. Emotions won't change his mind, and could drive you to apart.
Best of luck to both of you.

It's just the insurgents . The bias mainstream drive-by media won't tell you how the good Iraqi's love what our troops & coalition forces did for them .

Be Supportive of his decision. And be Proud of him! He is brave and courageous and I'm sure he will rather have you on his side and not against him in this decision.

I "assume" you are American., and think everyone on here is American right?
That being said,....
Its not just Iraq who hates you, try travelling to other countries and you shall learn.
(oh yeah, if you are American, you will be proud to wear a small Canadian flag so they will treat you with respect)
