but when i poke a hole in one they claim they've never heard of those claims or analogies before?
is this part of the "believe what you want to believe, when you want to believe, as long as it suits you" doctrine that most christians take part in?

It is usually easy to kick a hole in a straw man.
Anytime you make an analogue, "Christianity is like....", it is usually not difficult to find a way to stretch or overextend or twist the analogue so that it can seem pointless.
That is one of the reasons why God gave us over 3.6 million words in his book. When you have that much material, and cover the topic from that many angles, it becomes more difficult to tear it down. The best the critics can do is take one line (removing it from context and those all the supporting material around it) and shoot that down like they can a simple analogue. And then pretend that somehow that shoots down the whole thing.
Where if they were to actual read the whole thing, they would discover that the scriptures have all the answers to their questions and criticisms.

All the verses you use do exist! In fact you gave me some great verses earlier via email. I wrote you back on them....but we do not see eye to eye on them. I believe in every single verse you give me, and I never throw them out! Infact all scriptures go hand in hand....I think I told you before how the word of God is like a big puzzle in a way- the deeper you are in the Lord, in your walk with Him, the more "meat" he gives you from His word. When you are truly seeking HIS understanding, not just looking for verses to refute something you believe. But truly asking for God's wisdom in something you are not sure of.

Maybe it's part of the delusion and denial. (And I mean the fundies here.) Almost every time I ask a question about some of the more ridiculous statements that are quite often seen here, they say "Who ever said that? What are you talking about?"

It would be helpful if you made reference to the Bible, instead of analogies.
Maybe not even instead of .....just use Bible FIRST, then your analogies.

Your question is more analogous to the saying, 'There's none so blind as those who don't want to see.' Enjoy yourself poking holes. Any fool can destroy. It takes intelligence to construct.

You always answer your own questions. What's the point in my answering? It's not like you care anyway.
