cloud - why did jesus say the kingdom of heaven is within you?
Who is to say that Jesus was not speaking metaphorically, like he regularly did, when he talked about hell and it is a state, which can be felt here on earth as well as after, of true isolation, loneliness, despair and hopelessness. Obviously you have never been mentally ill

Yes, either the Holy Spirit dwells in you, or it does not.
Behold, the kingdom of God is within you. -Luke 17:21.

Exactly!!!!
I often wonder what those people think when 'the kingdom of heaven is within you'. What? It is the most obvious, yet most overlooked, most misunderstood statement in the bible!
It IS within and so it hell. All we think, do, react to, feel, emote, etc. determines if we create our own personal hell or heaven. PERIOD.
I think their unwillingness to take full responsibility for their precious gift of life is why they refuse to understand this simple statement. And instead of tending to this life, right here, right now, being fully responsible for themselves, they opt to look forward to some fantastical illusion which excuses them from their own selves.
Its a real pity, and of the lowest of consciousness, to believe like this. These people are the kind that salesmen prey on to believe their story. For the cons that rewrote and distorted the bible for their own greed came up with a gross folly of interpretation and these poor folks bought it hook line and sinker!
They embarrass me and make me ashamed of the human race.
Blessed Be

Yes, this is why convertion is something that must happen every day.

If we are in peace with God and with us, then we can look at the world with a peaceful glance. And we bring peace in the world.

If we are not in peace with us and envy the neighbours and think negatively, then we bring negativity in the world.

This is why all religions (particularly the christian one) insist on the positive change in the soul of the person.

I think it's entirely possible that was what Jesus meant all along. One wise Christian said that they could well be the same place, the only difference being how you feel about it. A very bright light could be overwhelming and blinding, or could be warming and joyous.

Heaven and hell is a state of our being. Whether we are being good or bad, happy or sad, etc. It is what we make our lives here on earth. We choose how we want to live. For instance, people who are choosing to do drugs and get hooked are living in their own personal hell. Let's all choose our Garden of Eden, to live heaven on earth.
God Bless

Why not?
The kingdom of God is within us.
There's no magic sky kingdom.
There's no secret cave full of lava.
If you wish to know yourself look at all the people in the world.
Like them most of you is unknown to yourself.
Like them you are guilty of what you accuse others of.
Like them you are judged by how you judge them.

Sounds to me like heaven, hell, and everything else starts in you.

Love one another. It's a great day to do so.
