It would be OK if he eats it. I know someone who gives her little dog leftover chicken bones instead of throwing them away. Shes been doing that for years and the little dog has never choked. Just eating one won't harm your little dog.
Its also safer for you to let him eat the bone, it would be too risky to try to take it away from him. Sometimes little dogs can bite worse than the bigger dogs.

It is ok to give your dog bones if they have not been cooked. Raw bones are OK! You can check this out with your vet, she will say the same. You have to remember that these are predatory animals, their bodies are fully equpied to eat anything that they would eat if they were wild animals, including raw bones. But they would not eat cooked bones, cooked bones splinter when they break because the marrow is all dried up. This can cause major problems. Raw bones will not splinter when knawed on. If you have a big dog, then the bone should be really big, so a chicken bone would not be good. You would do better with a cow knee or something like that. A smaller dog should have a smaller bone, but it should be a bone big enough that they can not break it in half with a couple of bites. The proper bone should be thick enough that it has to be knawed on over and over again, not chewed.

First of all, if you are worried about your dog biting you over a chicken bone, or anything for that matter, you both need training. That dog needs to know that you and every other human that lives with it are it's pack leaders, not the other way around.
Second, I don't think it's a good idea to let the dog keep the bone. It could break pieces of the bone off and choke. Take the bone away from all the animals.

My dog had done the samething, except when he got it out of the trash, I went to get it from him and he swallowed it whole. It was a chicken leg. Well, I panicked he was only 3 months old so I called the vet and they siad to watch for gagging, or choking. Then watch for blood in his stool. The vet said that I could feed him bulky foods, bread & cooked potatoes, or mashed potatoes. As much as he would eat without over doing it. I done that and checked his stool and he had a regular bm afterwards. He is 2 yrs old now & healthy!
I know some people say things on here that absolutely scares you to death. If your dog does eat the bone, just feed bulky foods and watch for throwing up, & blood in stool. I think your dog will be fine though. Cooked bones aren't good for dogs because of the splintering but people do it all the time and accidents do happen. Good Luck!

If it's a RAW chicken bone, no problem.
If it's a cooked chicken bone, you got trouble! It can wedge in his throat. It can splinter and cut his throat inside.
With ANY dog, YOU are supposed to be Alpha Pack Leader and as Alpha Pack Leader it's your RIGHT to walk right up and TAKE ANY FOOD AWAY that you WANT TO !!! If you can't do that then you have a serious problem with your dog.
You need to risk being bitten, if the bone is from a cooked chicken. Failure is not an option!
Walk over and reach carefully for the bone. If the dog threatens you, then you have to reach for the DOG and you grab it by the nape of the neck, which is the BACK of the neck and he can't bite you there. The cats are his size, and can't overpower him like you can.

Answers will vary. In the old days (when my dad was raised up and when I was raised up and Im 36) we never thought twice about giving dogs bones. ALL bones will splinter no matter what type of bone it is. Our dalmation was eating a rib bone and when they bite into them they splinter and shatter end up looking like steak knives thats how sharp it became. How do I know? Because she couldnt pass it and we ended up taking her to the vet who had to remove it from her rectum and she showed us. That was about 5 yrs ago and we have since stopped giving dogs bones. Take the bone from the dog dont let it dominate you.
If he ate it and they can eat them fast then you'll just have to wait and see if he has problems with passing stool, intestine problems and so forth although rare as I stated above it does happen. Futhermore your dog is 6 pounds I have a 100 pound dog and I am not scared of her I'll take anything from her even if she barks at me, she knows better then to growl.

No, it's not okay for him to have the chicken bone. Chicken bones are known for splintering in the digestive tract and causing a lot of damage. I recommend you not risk it and take it away from him. If you let him have it, he could choke on big pieces or sharp pieces could puncture his digestive tract. Then, you'd have to take him to surgery all because of a chicken bone. Also, it's not okay for him to be growling. Imagine a small child went up to him when he had something and he got possessive and bit the child. It's important that you start training him now that you are the pack leader and you control what he gets and what he doesn't get. When he growls, he's basically telling you "this is mine, not yours, get away!" He may see himself as alpha. My cousin's dog has started becoming a bit possessive when I touch him while he has a good treat. When I dog-sit for my cousin, I pet him all over his body then pet around his face. If he growls, even just a little bit, I take it away. When he calms down, I give it back to him. He's starting to learn that growling is not okay, and if he growls even just a little, he won't get what he wants. It's important you teach your dog this also.

If it was a RAW chicken bone it should be fine ..
HOWEVER ... ANY bone .. be it a chicken bone, a beef bone etc .. IF it is cooked is harmful.......
this is because when a bone is cooked it changes it's make-up and it makes it easier to splinter and shatter and this can cause your dog to choke or recieve injuries...
a dog should only ever be given raw bones .. SO NO tossing the chop bones from your BBQ to your dog,.

Take the bone and kick his butt if he shows any aggression toward you. What kind of a 6 pound dog would bite a human and especially his master if he is properly trained and not a spoiled brat? Take the bone away, at all costs, if for nothing else then just for the principal alone that you can do it, it will do you both a world of good...

well as long as he doesnt show any symptoms of vomitting and gagging then it's fine. Just try to get him away from the trash and watch him closely for these couple of days to make sure that the chicken bone is not harming him. If he starts getting strange and etc take him to the vet.
* Put ur trash away next time!
