Remember the story about Jesus telling the Rich man to sell everything he owned and give to the poor? In Acts of the Apostles people were told to sell everything they owned and give it to the poor because they were going through a terrible famine and time of poverty. Is it ok to have lots of money, multi-million dollar home, valuable possession adn be a Christian? Is it ok to be a celebrity and be a Christian? The term celebrity comes from celebrate. If you know and allow people to idolize you as a star does that set a good image for Jesus Christ? I ask this because there are some in the sports and entertainment business that profess to be Christian.

There are some VERY rich Christians. Some who run major churches around this country. I've seen them drive Mercedes, BMW and the like. The suits, the jewelry. They live in beautiful homes and their kids go to private schools.

Money does not make you less Christian but I think it's about what you do with your money. No church could really operate without money, it's impossible.

As far as celebrities go, some of it is just a job. It's what they do for a living. All sports figures and celebrities are not living high on the hog. Many do philanthropic works anonymously. I think you can be rich and Christian.

I (we) are low-income & run a non-profit organization "Ambassadors of the Light Resource Agency" that provides free referral services for the homeless & poor in Grand Rapids. Sometimes I wish I (we) or the organization had money, however the Bible talks about learning to be content with what you have, whether a little or alot, the Lord will provide. As for being rich or a celebrity or t.v. actress. We are not to idolize or make others to be our God whether it be the pope, an american idol singer, a celebrity, or money. Can rich celebrities be christians. I would say that they could, but it would be a very hard walk to keep from stumbling. They would have to live publiclly as a christian (going to church, admitting to the news that they were christians, NOT going to parties, only have 1 wife; not put theirselves first, but God & Jesus (Yeshua), listen to the Holy Spirit. I do not think they have to give away all their money, unless the LORD tells them to, or if it is causing them to sin & destroy their life. The rich christians (celebrities or not) could actually help others less fortunate them by giving a percentage of their money to different organzations, churches, starting other programs, helping in their communities, etcor even justing taking a homelss or poor person out to eat or buying them lunch next time they see one near a restuarant or on the streets. Jesus (Yeshua) said He had given us a example that would should do as he did. He came as a servant. We should help & serve others whether rich or not. And we are not to make others idols period. "You are not to have any other gods".
You can tell a true christain by "their fruits" (actions).
Rich & poor the Lord is the maker of them all.

There are a lot of people out there that call themselves Christians who aren't. They are Satans advocates. The bad thing it that they may not even know it. I have noticed that many with new Christians, they seem to think they are all knowing even if they are not well read on the bible. I have a nephew that is this way. He thinks he can do no wrong and doesn't know that some of the things he does is sinning. People see him doing this and think it's ok to be a Christian and do that. Or else they think if that is a Christian, I don't want to be one. I don't dare say anything or else be Satan myself. I understand. I have been done this way by my own family. We just have to have our OWN personal relationship with God and do the best we can for God. Myself, I would rather take the chance of them being mad at me for pointing out something they are doing against God so that they might correct it in time than to just let them keep on going the way they are without saying anything. I think God would want us to at least try. The Bible says that Christians will be condemned in the end days for trying to do Gods will. That time is upon us.

I think God loves and wants everyone to be his follower. But lets look, ok, celebrity, a celebrity can be a singer or actor. If you are good at singing, can't you let other people enjoy it, or acting, you could help make a movie glorifying God, or look up Casting Crowns, Barlowgirl, Newsboys, Krystal Meyers and many more, glorify God with their singing. Its just material stuff, like saying you can't be a christian cos you're poor.

The "rich young man" was trying to be justified by the law. That's why he asked what "good thing" he can DO to be saved.

So Jesus showed him that he is unsaved by the law, and he went away sorrowful.

But salvation is by grace through faith. 1 Timothy says that some Christians are rich in this life, and they're still Christians. God never tells them to give it away. So your whole thesis on this is unbiblical.

YES...THEY CAN BE CHRISTIANS...YOU SEE, THOSE WHO PROFESS TO BE CHRISTIANS, ARE THE ONES WHO ARE NOT IN THE PUBLIC EYE CONSTANTLY..

THEY GIVE TO CHARITY, AND/OR RUN CHARITIES....THEY PROFESS THAT JESUS IS LORD, AND LIVE A LIFESTYLE BECOMING A CHRISTIAN....

YES THEY ARE IN THE PUBLIC EYE, AND THEY WILL NOT HESITATE TO TALK ABOUT THE LORD....

OUR PRESIDENT IS A CHRISTIAN, AND IS NOT AFRAID TO LET IT BE KNOWN....

IF YOU'VE HEARD OF RON BROWN, I KNOW HE'S A TRUE CHRISTIAN ALSO...HE HAS A MINISTRY SET UP FOR THOSE IN THE SPORTS (FOOTBALL) FIELD....WHAT MONEY HE MAKES FROM HIS SPEECHES, GOES IN TO THIS MINISTRY.....

IT'S NOT REALLY HOW MUCH MONEY THEY MAKE, BUT ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY ARE WILLING TO GIVE, TO DO GOD'S WILL....

As long as we don't make the money or our posessions our idols.
