My favorite bumper sticker says, "If you're not outraged you're not paying attention." I do think that our civil liberties are under attack and if we truly are patriotic and love this country we must turn this around and restore checks and balances and basic civil liberties. Many cities around the country have started doing this by passing ordinances that they will not enforce or follow the provisions of the USA Patriot Act. I think a better example of what is happening is when Rome changed from a Republic with a strong Senate and democracy to an Empire with Caesars who had absolute power, rather than fascists Germany.

Is this actually going on now? Bush can't hold this country hostage for more than his term, after that we can change what he has done.
