You will probably be surprised to hear that this dream is a message from you to you. It means that you are too rigid in your attitudes. This rigidity makes you unable to deal with a people and situations. Because of your attitudes you cannot freely express yourself.

You may also be carrying around a lot of anger, even hatred and resentment.

Try to lighten up and not take everyone and everything so seriously. It is hard when you are sensitive-and many people fall into this mode.

This is called sleep paralysis. It occurs either upon falling asleep or upon waking up (hynopompic or hynogogic) and is a very common form of disordered sleep. It may be caused because the chemical reactions in the brain that cause sleep and dream, and cause the body to stay still while sleeping (not physically act out a dream) are not synchronized. The result is a kind of waking-dream or even hallucinatory state in which a person thinks that he or she might be awake (but isn't), experiences menacing presences, and feels crushed or paralyzed because they can't move.

It is NOT a supernatural experience. It is not a "disease"; it is a common experience that occurs sometimes for a myriad of reasons (a woman's monthly cycle, psychological stress, oversleeping, eating something disagreeable, lack of good ventilation, sleeping in a certain posture). It is more common in adolescence and usually becomes less frequent as one gets into middle age.

This has happened to me also!
Once it was I was dreaming that this demon kept trying to posess me and I kept trying to run. It seemed like a black and grey ghost in my dream.
Another I was laying on my bed in my dream and my boyfriend was beside me. I was screaming that something was trying to get inside my body and I thought it was real. Then i woke up.
The other times have been within the past few weeks.
The scariest was where I was in a dark room and something was holding me down. I was in a trailer in the middle of nowhere.. I hear it saying very clearly in a raspy, dead voice "Help me." This was happening while I was feeling the paralysis. Sort of like jolts of warm electricity.
The last dream I was "moving things" like Carrie I guess, while the paralysis feeling was going on.

this has happened to me. although a little differently. you are experiencing sleep paralysis symptoms. every story is different. with mine, while i was about to fall asleep, i experienced a few shadows in the room. i thought i was dreaming so i ignored it. then one of them came over, and sat on my chest. i felt breathing in my ear, and i heard whispering and talking. i tried to scream for help from my roommate, but i couldn't move or talk. as soon as it was gone, i realized i was awake the whole time. it's funny, it happens around this time of the year for me. infact last this happened, it was today. it was weird.

these things can happen when you are not getting enough sleep as it is, or stress and anxiety.

you can read more about sleep paralysis and how it works.

it'll make you feel a little better that there are more people that suffer from this.

yes I have had that happen to me a few times. It is very scary. It always felt like someone or something was making me stuck there and couldnt move it felt like something was mocking me and making fun of me for not being able to yell for help.I could never see it though but for some reason it felt " dark" to me in color. Like the lady above me said " a shadow" I think it just means that you are under alot of stress feeliong out of control of your life and possible violence going on in your life maybe?

you have not have been given something to rigidity approximately. Now i'm to unsure in case your going for the duration of the comparable element as i went by way of yet from what i remember i used to stay wide awake previous due and can land up waking up, paralyzed yet wide awake. i could not flow something, and it felt undesirable reason as much as you attempt shifting you wont be waiting to or a minimum of till it is going away which ultimately after a couple of minutes it is going to flow away. I remember the 2d time i observed some thing I even felt like grew to become into being possessed or some thing like that however i in simple terms found out in a while that i grew to become into being paranoid. so a great way as i be attentive to it incredibly is not severe and there is not a thank you to wake your self up whilst it occurs. i've got not got lots suggestion to supply you different than you mustn't hassle approximately it and you're able to attempt calming down yet i assume it feels so freakin strange in simple terms being paralyzed that its annoying to realize this. BTW it is going away...ultimately.

To dream that you are paralyzed, may reflect the current state of your body while you are dreaming. During the REM state of sleep you really are immobile and paralyzed. However symbolically, dreaming that you are paralyzed may mean you are feeling helpless or pinned down in some aspect or circumstances of your waking life. You may feel unable to deal with a situation or that you can't do or change anything. Alternatively, you may feel emotionally paralyzed. You may have difficulties in expressing yourself.

According to Dreamcrowd:

Dreaming that you or someone else is paralyzed could be very frightening. Depending on the details of your dream and your current situation in life, there are several different, but equally reasonable interpretations. The fear that paralyzes you in the dream may be symbolic of the fear that you are experiencing in daily life. You may feel somewhat unable to change a current situation which may manifest itself in your dream in a form of paralysis. In addition, this dream may be cautioning you to stay still and do nothing for now in regard to a real-life situation that is on your mind and may be problematic for you. In the dream you may be "frozen with fear" and it is up to you decipher what that fear is and what it represents.
