Most post offices, some currency exchanges and some village halls offer passport services. They usually only have certain hours, so call ahead. It can take up tp 2-3 months to get your passport, so plan early if you don't want to pay any extra charges. Normal charges are around $100. You will need a drivers license and an original birth certificate (with a seal on it). Have a good time on your cruise. For more information, check out this website. It is very helpful. http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

ok i got my passport this year and i just came back from a cruise. What i did i went to the post office I filled out the application they have and i paid $97 but its divided. $67 is for the passport make sure you have $67 as a check or money order, and $30 is to send it to your home that you could pay cash for it. What you are going to need is your birth cerficate, and a photo id of you and 2 pics of yourself it has to be 2x2. Where i went to get those pics i went to cvs. I told them i need passport pics, and they did it. BTW just make sure the background is white. Once you have the information complete what they will keep is your two pics and your birth cerficate. If i was you ill submit in my application right now. It could me long time get my passport and my birth cerficate back. It took them at 4 months to process my passport due to high volume of applications.

Need no; advisable yes! Generally speaking a passport is an international travel document. It proves, based upon the country or origin; its citizen's right to travel abroad. However, it would warrant an update with the spouse (female) having the surname for convinces and should any future problems such as, proof of marriage for hotels, credit, etc; a child born while in the mist of travel outside of the country; or worse trying to leave a country with your spouse and unable to prove you are married, if death should occur while in a foreign country. Just for the sake of any incoercible challenges; always have your passport updated.

You can apply at your post office or city hall.
-This usually takes 8-12 weeks or 3-4 weeks if you expedite it.
You can order one through an online passport service.
-This can take as little as 1 day. Here are a few examples:

Your local post office is where you can get a passport. If you need normal delivery it takes about 4 weeks. You can get expedited delivery for significantly more money. Check the U.S. state department web site for more detailed information including identification requirements..

I live in Indiana. So, we have to go some place like Walgreens or CVS that advertises they take a passport photo. After getting your photo, go to the court house where you live. We fill out the necessary forms in our clerk's office. They say it takes up to a 6 weeks, but mine took longer. Good Luck!

You can go to U.S. Post Office to get one. They will tell you what exactly you need, pretty simple. But I would suggest you to apply early since you will need to wait at least weeks to get it.
