The soul is ones disembodied state (Revelation 6:9, 20:4); this is different than one's "spirit"... one's "spirit" is who we are, what we like, what we find funny, our personality.

The soul, belongs to God (Ezekiel 18:3,4); it possesses immortality (Matthew 10:28); the soul leaves the body at death (Genesis 35:18).

The soul has abilities which include: having faith (Hebrews 10:39); and love of God (Luke 10:27).

The duties of the soul are to love God (Deuteronomy 6:5); serve God (Deuteronomy 10:12); store the Word of God (Deuteronomy 11:18) and get wisdom (Proverbs 19:8), to mention a few.

The soul has enemies such as fleshly lusts (1 Peter 2:11), evil environments (2 Peter 2:8); sin (Leviticus 5:4-17); adultery (Proverbs 6:32); evil people (Proverbs 22:24,25).

The souls of the righteous are kept by God (Psalm 121:7); they are purified (1 Peter 1:22); they will reign with the LORD Jesus Christ (Revelation 20:4).

The soul of the wicked desires evil (Proverbs 21:10); it delights in it (Isaiah 66:3); its ultimate fate is distress (Romans 2:9).

some believe they are one and the same. Others believe that the spirit is the inner man that departs upon death and the soul is the part that connects to the flesh. Others believe that the spirit is the internal part that partakes of desires beyond the flesh. While the soul houses all the emotions of the flesh. Any way you believe you are connected in more than one way in regards to God and life

Our spirit/soul lived before in the pre-existence before we came to the earth. After we die, out spirit and body separate.

Your soul joins with mind in the physical experience of the body. The mind/body connection makes you susceptible to ego misperception because we are hard-wired for survival during early development when the reptilian and old mammalian brain are primal. The thinking brain develops later and continues until we are about 25. By then you are so conditioned to identify with the ego's fears and attachments that it is very difficult to return to being your authentic spiritual Self. This is the effort required in transcendence of/death of the ego identity to achieve 'eternal aliveness.' It is a psychological process. Why the big deal?? Because god/reality mirrors consciousness - either your authentic needs and purpose or your insane egoic nonsense.

Your spirit is the part of you that connects to God, your soul is the part of you that connects to the world around you, your body is the carrying case.

Imaginary.
That's it, nothing more.
Because so far NO one has been able to provide a single solitary shred of credible evidence that supports such a thing.
And never will either.
