Check the outside of the house.. A loose shutter, a tree branch, a wire or cable, etc. can be blown by a breeze or even vibrated by passing traffic to cause the tapping.. Secure an loose shutter cable or wire and trim back and branches etc....
The sound could also be coming from inside the wall, a rattly pipe, cable or wire within the wall near the window... You will need a professional to check and repair these issues as they are inside the wall and are difficult to get to...
The sound could also be typical settling of the house... During the day the temperature rises causing many building materials to slightly expand with the typical noises of daytime me do not notice the creaks, taps, and other sounds associated with the expanding.... At night however it is much quieter and the same creaks taps and other sounds are heard as the building materials contract with the cooler temperature of night....
As for the door a draft or even a change in air temperature with the associated expanding and contracting of the door and the door frame can cause a door to move slightly opening and closing... Doors that are not hung properly or doors in older houses where settling over time has causes slight deviations in the alignment move more than newer well hung doors..
I live in a house built in 1890 (with additions built through 1920) doors in my house often move as they are all original and their alignment is slightly off.. The door to my attic moves the most...
Remember heat rises with the attic being the highest point in the house there is a slight draft going up the attic stairs even when the windows are closed... Cooler air from the attic and warmer air from the house are constantly in motion and the door moves..
If it bothers you place a door stop down so the motion of the door is stopped...

Doors can open and close for many reasons. If the door is hung even the tiniest bit off center on it's hinges, that can affect it, temperature change can expand and contract the wood, and that can affect it, drafts can affect it. All of those things can also cause tapping noises, especially temperature change as the wood expands and contracts.
Believe me, if ghosts existed, and they were capable of hurting humans, they would have done it a long time ago. You'd also hear about it happening all the time. Everyone you know would have been hurt by a ghost at some point, it would be on the news...it would be common knowledge, not just some scary tale that you heard somewhere that can't be substantiated. Think logically, and you'll realize that the idea of ghosts--and especially of ghosts coming to "get" you are just silly.

Changes in air pressure are causing the door to open and close regularly. Try closing it tight, or putting a stop under the door to prevent it from swinging.
"Ghosts" allegedly make the area extremely cold, not hot.
"Taps" on the window could simply be creaking sounds from the panes expanding or contracting.

Put a chair with a tall back on it under the door knob to jamb the door. When your dad (or whoever is doing it) tries to open the door he'll freak out and order you to open the door now!
Mystery solved!

It's air currents in the house, and/or expansion of the woodfrom the heat you mentioned.
Nothing supernatural at all.
Try putting something really lightweight (e.g.; sawdust, or pencil shavings) close to the door, and watch how they get moved around as well.

Wind probably from an open window or some kind of air pressure going on. Don't be superstitious.

wind can shut doors somewhat or if there is no wind air pressure can affect it too... and if they are hung crooked (as my door to my room is) the door will open on its own as well.
*shrug* nothing to worry about.
