you are not gona lose it with sit ups - all they do is build muscle, they dont burn any fat and you cant spot reduce body fat.
the only way to get rid of it is by lowering your body fat percentage which you achieve by healthy diet, eating 5-6 small meals a day, lots of fruit and veggies, lean protein, complex carbs and healthy fats and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day.
The only fat burning exercise is cardio - to get results do it 4-6 times a week for average of 45min.

There are number of ways to loose the pouch. But remember it takes time and dedication and its not going to happen overnight.

1. Do more cardio. If you cannot run, then walk faster and work up to a pace where you can run on the treadmill. Running on the treadmill is easier than on a track or a road as there is less resistance. Running equals weight loss and loosing the flab on your body.

2. Abdominal exercise don’t get rid of the fat around your midsection. The only way to get rid of fat at your abs is to get rid of fat on your whole body — and to do that, you must perform proper weight training and regular cardiovascular exercise, as well as eat a healthy, nutritious diet that works for you and your lifestyle.

3. If you have a exercise ball, try doing all your workouts (like dumbell chest presses, shoulder presses) with it as it will build core stability.

4. I use to climb a short stairs and back down as fast as possible at least three times. I know this is not an ab exercise- but i am trying to stress with more cardio you will loose fat..even better with higher intensity workouts like fast stair climbing.

5. Try yoga if you can as it stresses on core fitness and you will eventually tighten up your body.

6. DO planks ...(great way to tighten the mid-section- look in the 3rd link to see what it is)

7. Drink lots of water. Water.water.water. Water will speed up your metabolism. Say no to soda and cut down on fatty food as fatty food manifests itselfs in the mid-section.

The trick here is to maintain your heart beat at a high rate so
you see the desired results.
GOod luck

Sit-ups won't help you lose it. That's actually probably the slowest way. You can do a million sit ups a day, but if there is still fat covering your abs, you'll never be able to see them. Sit-ups don't spot reduce. Instead, you will need to eat a low-calorie diet and do aerobics to lose fat overall. I would suggest you take up running, too, even if you have to start out running, then walking. It tones the abs while burning fat.
