Koran 16
65. And Allâh sends down water (rain) from the sky, then He revives the earth therewith after its death. Verily, in this is a sign (clear proof) for people who listen (obey Allâh).

66. And verily! In the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, from between excretions and blood, pure milk; palatable to the drinkers.

*67. And from the fruits of date-palms and grapes, you derive strong drink (this was before the order of the prohibition of the alcoholic drinks) and a goodly provision. Verily, therein is indeed a sign for people who have wisdom.

Now the prohibition of alcohol Koran 5:90:

O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, AlAnsâb, and AlAzlâm (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitân's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.

Please provide your opinions or quotes. Thank you.

I'm also wondering if "intoxicants" has been translated wrong? Please be respectful with your answers. Thanks.

Bal - That's an interesting take and you made it obvious that you don't agree with it. I don't either. Does that mean rain should not be used to make "drugs" with either. Or maybe that milk should not be pasteurized or turned into shakes? Is that from Satan also?

mtk - I understand your interpretation of the verse. Is the translation then wrong to include "(this was before the order of the prohibition of the alcoholic drinks)"? This line makes it seem that alcohol was allowed and THEN prohibited.

If wine is bad ,then why did Jesus (a great prophet in Islam) change water into wine?

Since this is all mumbo jumbo, here is what a commentator on the qur'an has to say about 16:67:

"This and the previous verse seem to aim at a comparison between the Divine Law as manifested in nature and the handiwork of man. It is the working of Divine Law in nature that produces such a valuable and agreeable diet as pure milk, separating it from the other elements -- blood and dung -- to which food is reduced in the belly of a cow, a goat, or other animal, which the hand of man is unable to do. On the other hand, the most agreeable provisions provided by nature in the form of fruits are turned into such a poisonous drug as wine by the hand of man. The two illustrations thus point out that just as Divine laws working in the physical world produce the purest and most agreeable diets, separating them from obnoxious and useless excrements, so their working in the spiritual world produces the sublimest moral teachings, which afford to man the purset and most agreeable spiritual diet. But the best teachings given by the Divine revelation are likely to be corrupted by the hands of man, as the best of fruits is turned into such a disagreeable and obnoxious thing as wine, though if it had been preserved in its original condition it would have served as an excellent provision."

There you go. Why didn't allah say what he/she meant? I guess there would have been no need of mullahs -- and they really need the work.

O ye who believe! Go not near Prayer when you are (SUKARA) not in full possession of your senses, until you know what you are saying, nor when you are unclean, except when you are traveling along a way, until you have bathed. And if you are ill or you are on a journey while unclean, or if one of you comes from the privy or you have touched women and you find no water, then betake yourselves to pure dust and wipe therewith your faces and your hands. Surely, Allah is the Effacer of sins, Forgiving,

Holy Quran

Muslims did not lose a battle because they drank wine, that is a slander and a great lie.

As for the verse you stated it is a parable, the Prophet Muhammad (s) never allowed drinking wine, ((SUKARA)) has more then one meaning example, ''No headache will they get therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - (56:19)

hi, across the international, human beings flow by capacity of the gregorian calendar. For non secular activities Muslims flow by capacity of the lunar calendar. for this reason the right date to mark the top of Ramadhan is at the instant unknown, yet it incredibly is introduced this evening and Eid would be as of day after today, so which you're able to be waiting to flow out saturday evening such as you planned, by way of fact they gained't be fasting. Alcohol is strictly forbidden is Islam. even in spite of the incontrovertible fact that some Muslims drink it, it incredibly is not permmitted. No-one is appropriate, which includes muslims. theft, homicide and rape are all unlawful, yet it doesnt end human beings from commiting such acts. regulations are regulations, regardless of if its state regulation or faith based rules. I studied Christianity some years in the past and learnt that there is a branch of christians who do not drink alcohol. I cant remember yet i think of it grew to become into some thing like protestants, and by way of the bread/wine area of mass they subsitute alcohol with ribena (i think of)

16:67 is meant to show that from the same good fruits you can make something bad (such as wine) and something good (such as vinegar). It is understood that this is a comparison between good and bad.
