This country was founded on christian principles. I am not even close to being perfect, I will tell you that up-front, so I am not a hypocrite. The proper question would be, "How long will it take those opposed to our christian values to change society". I will refrain from making judgements on whether this would improve our country or not. I think there is some truth in most religion, but for every action there is a reaction. Power corrupts. Would I rather be led by a corrupt christisan, or a corrupt athiest? It probably makes little difference.

Hey, there ARE Republicans who are against fanatics of any kind, uncluding those fanatics who happen to be Christians. To claim otherwise is at best, ignorant; at worst, a deliberate lie.
To brand either Republicans or Democrats as a monolithic group that all believes the same things is a BIG lie intended to sucker in the ignorant element in our country, because no one with any brains or life experience would say that all Dems believe the same things, or that all GOPers do.
There is no immediate need to "stop" the "religious right" (as opposed to the nonreligious right) because our Constitution protects ALL of us from government-sponsored religion.

Do not vote for politicians who let religion interfere with politics. That includes most modern Republicans unfortunately.
These people will only appoint more and more religious kooks to positions of power. Look at Bush with the Supreme Court. Bush appointed a women (Monica Goodling) from Pat Robertson's "university" as the #3 ranking official in the Justice Department. He appointed a pentacostal minister (Ashcroft) to head the Justice Department.

I have no problem with America being "One nation under God"
Just as long as I get to determine for myself who that God is and am free to worship or not in the way that is best for me.
If however it is ONE group of people imposing THEIR version of who that God is and everyone must get in line with their "God given" dictates with regard to things that are personal and family freedoms, then I have a big problem with that.

Support education and science. Demand your rights just as they do. If you're atheist/agnostic, be so openly and out of the closet.
