My neighbour had her car door wide open so it was sticking out in the road with her and her little girl next to it and she was talking to another neighbour who was also in the road but on the other side, The one with the car door saw me driving up the road and as she was blocking it she had to close her car door and move herself and her little girl in aswell, I drove past slowly and as i did she shouted "Yeah thanks", As to say we were in the road and had to move off it and you did not say thank you. Now i did not believe that i had too and it did not enter my mind, But now im wondering if people have more right to be on the road than cars. Am i wrong?

Yes i suppose i should have given a nod or put a hand up, But it did not cross my mind at the time as i suppose in my mind it did not warrant a response so in that case is it a 50 50 case

i think your neighbours have an attitude problem and thinklittle of the safety of their children and others. next time blast your horn and don't make eye contact. you don't have to thank people for them doing what they should do anyway. all this thanking in cars is getting out of hand and people get angry if it's 'not enough' in their mind. you should be concentrating on your driving and looking at the road a head not taking your hands off the wheel and distracting your mind from hazards. you drove slowly that's enough. if they are sarcastic then they don't like you anyway so ignore them.
or
stop your car in the middle of the road,,get out and bow down before them thanking them for noticing an insignificant ant like you in their regal world.

If I was the other neighbour I would try to avoid this aggressive sounding person, certainly she was in the wrong although it might have been useful if you had smiled or given a nod to acknowledge the fact that she had moved out of the road for you.

Do not let this escalate though making bad friends with neighbours can cause you more hassle than them. Don't bite if anything else occurs.

She wanted you to wave in response I should think. It would have been the most polite thing to do. I get a bit like that with other drivers sometimes. When you let them out of a turning on a busy road and they don't thank you or acknowledge you. I expect she just wanted a reaction to getting out of the way. I don't think it's about right or wrong, but just people like some sort of response when they have responded to you.

I don't think you were wrong... they shouldn't have been standing in the street to begin with. If she's got a problem with you and others driving up and down the road then she's got a serious problem and needs to move to Montana where that sort of thing doesn't happen often.

People shouldn't hang out in the road carrying a conversation. If they want to socialize, get off the road, and onto the sidewalk or their living room.

No, but obviously this woman thinks herself above every road user and that you should all give in to her. Dont worry about it, she will probably be rude to someone else later and wont even remember you or your car! It is similar to people in cars at pedestrian crossings who beep their horn to hurry you across even when the lights havent changed in their favour! Some people think they are above everyone else.

You are not wrong. The road, according to LAW, should never be blocked except in cases of having a permit or law enforcement needing to block it. There was no need for her to be so rude to you. They were in the wrong for blocking traffic and should have taken their conversation elsewhere.

You did nothing wrong. She is an idiot. Where she was standing was stupid and dangerous to be having a conversation with someone. She should have closed the door and walked around to the sidewalk to have her conversation.

She shouldn't have been in the road, you maybe should have said thanks that she moved, if for no other reason than to be a better person then she is.

I used to argue with whoever was up for it, try and defend all my rights, in the end you just end up angry.

It polite to say thank you - even to an idiot. But then its normal to not block the road. some people are just rude - she sounds like one of them.
