It's easy to blame Bush and Blair 4 years later for making a mess out of Iraq.

But people shouldn't forget that Saddam Hussein boasted of having nuclear weapons before the invasion, and was mostly non-compliant and evasive when the U.N. weapons inspectors wanted to gain access to many of their facilities.

On balance, it was the right thing to do to invade a country whose leader had previously committed genocide against his own people and attacked Kuwait, and who then began telling the world he had the capability to make nuclear strikes against any country.

To control the second largest oil reserves in the world, and to keep government money flowing into defense contractors. It's the largest corporate welfare program in history (taxpayer money flowing into corporations). There is zero oversight about how any of the money is being spent. Some company charged the government half a million dollars for a screw, and got paid.

That's why Bush's real goals in Iraq are just to keep the war going. His strategy is "stay the course" because then they can keep handing out the no-bid contracts.

The Bush's family is heavily invested in the Carlyle Group, whose top investments are in defense and oil. Destabilize the region, and oil companies can charge ridiculous amounts for oil. That's why oil prices are remaining at all time highs.

We are warmongers. Iraq is more of a threat to our country today then it was when it was a dictatorship.. Personally, I think Bush wanted to finish what his father started..
Before we invaded Iraq, I said it was a bad idea. I believe countries should continue to strengthen their military until a country strikes. When that country strikes then strike back. Do not worry about other countries until they attack.

To search for weapons of mass destruction (none were found so mission accomplished), to over throw Hussain (mission accomplished) and give the Iraq people a chance to form their own 'democratic' government through voting (mission accomplished). I'd say it's time to come home.

Why not read a bit on the geo-political reality in the middle east leading up to it? Then you could answer your own question. Or maybe it's easier to regurgitate tired liberal slogans and flap your lips with ignorance...

One reason was to liberate people that were under the thumb of a genocidal maniac.

Isn't that enough? Oh wait, with liberals it's out of sight out of mind.
