LOL... good point. But 9-1-1 is what we dial in an emergency, and 9/11 was just that. So it works on many levels. ;-)
Besides: it happened here, so our rules apply.

Oh yeah, it's always "lucky" to be bombed on a day that is also the same number as the month! What a horrible choice of words. It's 9/11 here, September 11th. We write it as we say it and don't have to change for the rest of the world.

It's just cultural
In fact, in the settings in your computer, you can select the method by which dates, times, and money are printed on the screen.
But as to 9/11 (or 11/9 if you prefer), that was a sad day in the history of this country. :-(
Likewise, 7/7 (or is that 7/7?) was yet another sad day for the UK. :-(

On September 11, 2001 the United States of America was attacked by terrorists and no other country was attacked on that day. so 9/11 is observed to honor the fallen here while in other countries they observe they days they were attacked.

oh we all remember, Tragedies like 9/11 or U.K. or Spain, or Mexico 1985, are hard to forget.
I live in Mexico and we write the date 11 of September so we say 11/9, no offense, just tradition.
Anyway, we will have a small ceremony at school to honor, remember and pray for all of those who died that day, and for all the families who lost a loved-one.
We will never forget.

Um, yeah, I second that. Who says it was wrong? Is it wrong we still don't use the metric system?
