That doesn't have to be the stopper.

My husband is very religious. I'm an atheist.

We agreed up front that the kids would be raised in his religion. I have no objections. My only demand is that the kids will know that I'm an atheist, and that it's OK that I'm an atheist. I don't want my own kids trying to convert me.

I'd move on or try to understand and embrace their beliefs...relationships are far too difficult without adding religious differences into the equation. It'd be a constant battle between the two people...and if the other person is religious their spirit will constantly war inside them about the choice they've made to be with a nonbeliever...

hmmm...hard one! if i were you, i'd look into the religion just to get to knw the other more and see where she comes frm coz its part of her and its made her HER so maybe there must be something in it if you take a liking to her if you know what i mean. Coz her religion is part of it all i.e. her characteristics, attitude etc. If it suits you, convert. if not, then let go and be friends. You'll have to live with it unfortunately unless you're only in it for sex as some one above mentioned too. It might be a way of seeking God as again mentioned somewhere above. Through her, no harm in seeking is there now?

Why would that stop you? Two people being together, those two can have their individual differences and still get along. The point is to respect each other's differences, accept them, support them. You do not have to join their beliefs, but just accept it. That is part of a partnership.

Well, there's not a whole lot you can do about it. You have to respect their lifestyle. You can't make them be with you if they don't want to. If you have feelings for that person, then that's just something you're going to have to deal with on your own.

I use to go to church almost every Sunday. Now I don't because my boyfriend is agnostic and we spend almost every Sunday together visiting his mother who is in a nursing home. We just don't talk about religion.

Move on or try the religion and see if you like it BUT don't pretend to be into it if you are not ... Honesty is the best policy

I wouldnt waste my time chasing a girl that had feelings for me, but could react to them because of some lame religious excuse, such as me not being a member of her religion.

If she is that easily controlled, chances are you'd find her intellectually/socially inferior. Of course, this goes for men as well, if youre female.

If you do not agree with someone spiritually then I have no idea why you would want to hang out with them. Unless you just want to get in their pants or something.

that happened to me, and i went else where, it hurt for years, but i finally got over her.

we were in high school, i attended the S.D.A. and she attended the J.W. four years all through high school, she kept trying to get me to go to her church, and i kept trying to get her to go to mine. we were close, but only in school...

in the end, at graduation, it was the last time i ever seen her, she completely rejected me saying because i would not convert, her church would not allow us to be together :(
