A couch, chair, ottoman, king size bed, head board, dresser, mirror, table, 4 chairs and a few boxes down a three story apartment building-what is a good price to pay them and how many would you hire?

I'd like to also add that the couch is unusually heavy and the last legal movers cried heavily.

I do apologize-I do not want to sound racist. It is just that they ARE Mexicans and these are the guys that stand on the side of the road. I want to be fair and not cheat them out. I am not being racist. I'm not sure what the deal is with the people that think I'm being. I want to pay them fair so how is that racist?

You said the pro's would charge up to $250. an hour. This is 3 story's high, with an unusually heavy coach. It will obviously take over two hours. I would hire 2 or 3 men, and pay them at least $250.00, and let them keep alittle dignity. You will still save alot of money

Ok, Ok, calm down everybody....
The term 'Mexican' is not racist; it is not derogatory. It does not compare to chink, etc. She explained she's not racist.

Soo, to answer. Obviously it would take at least 2 guys to move most items, so at least 2. How about: Two guys, $50 to each one; or 4 guys and say, $25 to each one (4 would do less work each than if there were two).

If I hired ANYONE to move my furniture, I would pay them the same. I have actually gone down to a location where men are waiting for jobs and had 2 hispanic men offer to come load my stuff up for me.

It was a bedroom set, 2 beds, couch, loveseat, coffee table, and about 5 boxes from the kitchen. I paid them each $40 and filled their truck with gas. It took about an hour to load and when I paid them, they offered to follow me and unload it - no additional charge.

I wish I'd had them for my last move. They took 10x better care of my stuff than professional movers did.

Why would you ask such a thing. Why not hire anybody that needs the money to do it. And I can't believe a top contributor like William B would give an answer like the one he gave you sure can tell he is cheap. I would cover myself in honey and lie down on an ant hill before I would work for either one of you. You sorry piece of trash!

Why not a chink, a spook, a honky, a **** and an injun?
You're sick, kid. Think of another way to phrase the question, please.

Even "Should I hire 3 guys from the Home Depot parking lot and pay them $50 each plus lunch to move my stuff?" is better than your implicitly racist dumba*s question.

Grow up.

at least 2 men pay about $ 20 a person,

2007-09-11 12:15:51 · answer #7 · answered by William B 7 · 2 3

i would pay each $8.00 dollars an hour, (higher than minimum wage) I would hire 4 and would expect 4 workers to complete the task in less than 2 hours so maximum would be $64.00

consider three flights of stairs and I would pay $100 max to be divided among the workers

Don't hire / pay illegals. Support AMERICA!! Illegal immigration is a huge problem and a huge expense to our country. You are adding to this big dilemma.
