I am sorry to hear of your plight. I hope you find a way out of your predicament.
I think most people would like to help the homeless, but it ultimately gets to the point of the homeless helping themselves. If you've been homeless for long you'll know first-hand that most are mentally ill (and therefore beyond help from anything but an institution) and many of the remainder are chemical-dependent (and therefore at least partially to blame for their condition).
I donate to the United Way to help those in need. I do *not* give money to panhandlers because if no one gives them money then they don't stick around.
I used to live in a very liberal college town in the Midwest. Many citizens sympathized for the homeless and gave money, set up shelters, etc. Now the place is practically over run with them. They are a menace to businesses, the general public and civil servants. They squat under bridges, litter, defecate and urinate in public, panhandle everywhere, etc.
I am not saying you are one of these types of homeless people. I am simply stating what my experience with homeless people has been and why I have the personal policy that I do.
Good luck getting back on your feet.

I am very sorry to hear of your situation. A lot of people are hesitant to help the homeless because of the professional bums that are trying just to get money, or people that do have substance abuse problems. Begging on the street reinforces a negative sterotype. As for work, I am sure you are seeking, but the more specific you can be the more likely it is that someone will hire you. Try to find the location where construction crews or other business pick up day laborers. It is hard to find a job when you don't have a residence, but it is not impossible. There are always people looking for someone to do odd jobs. Ask the churches you go to if they need someone to clean the building, or do repair work or some thing else you have skills in. Small local business owners are also valuable resources, sometimes they need extra help in kitchens, dishwashing, and are in need of people willing to work for an honest day's pay. Not all jobs require you fill out an application. I am praying for you and hope that you are able to get back on your feet soon!

I do not know why that is so, today i heard on the bbc that some country's are trying to move the homeless out of the city and public view, i know the Bible says that therer will always be poor/homeless amoung us, i was just a step away at one time... its more than a toss of the dice (as to who is and who is not) there are many causes color of skin (Black families lead the homeless) many do not realize that, religion in this country USA, most races were looked down upon at one time or another (sad to say that that is still somewhat true)... i know that your journey and walk is not alone...i understand the "giving up" and then praying to God... many may see this as a contradiction... its the human condition... you did right by talking about your walk, sharing is half the way back to recovery... look at what you can do, what group(s) you can seek help from and you can become a spokeman for the homeless... many are mentaly challenged sice former Pres. Regan, closed many state programs, as is the prisons/institutions... there again mostly filled with minority's.
I join your plea, that it does not fall on death ears...we could end homelessness in this country and in the world... (even if it is not advantageous) for sweat shops/crops ect to do so.
I join you in Prayer and action... which i will not say here, but just do it... change is not coming... change is here today... stand and take action many are with you...change that name to "hopefilled"

There are a multitude of stories circling around at the amount of money that a homeless person can make just by standing in front of Walmart or a mall for a few hours. Some of these stories claim it is hundreds of dollars a day, all undeclared income. Compared to $10.00 an hour for 8 hours ($80.00 daily before withholding) it is a pretty good income for "doing nothing" or begging. These stories anger people, and they rethink how they give and where they give. There are also those out there with the signs claiming to be hungry, and when offered food, they cuss out the giver. Again, people tend to rethink how and where they give.

No society can thrive peacefully leaving their possess lesser priveleged brethern at the streets. Even because the typical of dwelling of the some of the folks difference for the greater, correspondingly the extent of the poorest of the deficient additionally need to be looked after. Socialism does now not require any unmarried chief's steerage, however a spontaneous rebellion by way of the lesser privileged, whether or not anybody likes it or now not. Welfare measures are the solutions for the peaceable manner in assembly the venture and there can no 2 reviews at the identical. VR

I do try to help. I have given kids (not my own) I know, with no place to go, a place to stay.
The problem I have experienced with this is they tend to abuse the privilege. They don't get a job, they don't even offer to help pay for some of the food I've provided when they DO get a job. If I ask them to do something around the house, they don't.
Basically, I have found them to be unappreciative. The last kid I let stay in my home brought people over, when we were out of town, and then the friends tried to break into my home when he wasn't there. I just had a window shattered from a pellet gun 2 days ago. I found evidence of another break in attempt with another window cracked.
We've decided to not give a place to stay to homeless children anymore.
Sorry to hear about your plight. Keep your chin up and keep trying. I will pray for you.

It depends. First, I don't know where you live, but if it is an urban area, there are faith based shelters somewhere around. They will feed you and give you shelter, as long as you are willing to submit to their rules.
Second, stop feeling sorry for yourself. You are not the only one in this position, and the only one who can truly help you is you. I know this sounds harsh, but I HAVE been where you are, and my excuses were a lot worse than yours are.
It sounds to me like you are trying to get people to feel sorry for you. Here it is the middle of the day, and instead of going out and trying to improve your life, you are hanging out in the library. God won't help you until you look at yourself and identify your own role in your problems. He isn't a magician who will go poof and make life perfect.
Again, I apologize for sounding harsh, but sometimes the truth hurts.
And before anyone criticizes me for being a hypocrite, I will tell you that I give 5% of my monthly income to a local homeless shelter, and that I volunteer at least two hours a week there, in addition to being active statewide in the homeless coalition.

You apparently know how to use a computer. Try a temp agency. The churches you have visited would probably be able to give or loan you some work-appropriate attire.
A better idea than asking for prayers is to look around you and see what opportunities are available.

Good luck to you, amigo.
You didn't say what sort of help you're looking for. I see signs in every fast food establishment "HELP WANTED". Maybe you can match up with one of them.
Meanwhile, I wish you the best.

Because most see your condition as being "your choice", and don't want to "deprive" you of paying the consequences of your choice.
Sorta like God's attitude about people going to Hell.
