Flashes of that day are running through my head and I find myself singing "Proud to be an American". Anyone else?

My family also lives this everyday. Son returning from Iraq next week, daughter leaving tomorrow for Afghanistan and youngest daughter gone by the end of the month to Baghdad. Yes, all four of our children are in the Military and we are proud of each one of them.

Even with all the problems the US faces, here and abroad, we are very fortunate to have the freedoms we have.

The other songs that I am constantly reminded of are God Bless the USA, Don't mess with America and American Soldier.

Sorry about the rambling.

No, because it's been a song used by lying, pandering Republicans since the first Bush Administration. A better song today would be "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" Maybe change the words to "Why Have Both the Towers Gone?" And why haven't they been rebuilt? And why hasn't Bush kept his promise to get the man who ordered the attack?

While I am proud to be an American, I really hate that stupid song; it's just jingoistic crap.

The boyscout Hannity plays it all the time during his radio program, and it's one of the reasons I stopped listening to that show (besides the reason that Hannity thinks he walks on water, and has no tolerance for human imperfection).

No.. I'm thinking the circle jerks singing:

I hope you're having fun
where's your uniform? where's your gun?
better rub up that suntan oil
'cause you'll be fighting in the desert

it's not..Vietnam
just another oil company scam
salute that flag of uncle sam
get your money out place your bets
it's Afghanistan!!
fix bayonets,check grenades
got enough bullets
got enough rounds to wipe out this place?
Were the infantry & cavalry
parachutes fill the sky, bodies burn and people die

No, not really, although it does bring to mind all the "artists" like Tim McGraw who capitalized on people's emotions after 9/11. Not to mention all the poster makers, lapel pin manufacturers, etc... who did the same thing.

No.

What is running through my head is why were we attacked and why hasn't the current administration ended the horrible mess in Iraq.
