I saw the tape a citizen made of a cop threatining him with making up charges, caught on his dashboard camera w/ mic and thought that would not be a bad idea to install it in my car. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any web site that says they sell them and/or install them. Any ideas?

This is an excellent idea. Not sure if the makers of police dashcams sell to the general public, but if they don't, someone should step in and make a bundle providing this to people who want this, which could be very useful to record any incidents, such as a police stop or accident. If anyone finds a company that sells this, do let me know.

Many dashcams allow for both video and audio recording. So depending upon which one you actually look at, it might already record audio too. Some do allow for external mics to be plugged in, which is what some people do. Mine don't have this feature.

Now from what I understand, standard dashcams are legal in all 50 states. But if somebody were to modify one with something like a mic, there could be privacy issues that come into play. So the laws might vary with regards to that state-by-state.
